I mean voting against equality hurt hundreds of thousands in the past, that kind of over now...

Tonight specifically, im just assuming there was at least one young gay teen who watched tonights show who feels a lot worse about their sexuality than they did two hours ago. I'd also argue that some adults are disappointed in how stubborn other people can be. What type of people do you think felt positive after hearing Ann's words tonight?

but it is but one vote in a whole parliament. Ann was re-elected multiple times by her constituents in a democracy, and therefore was given the right to cast her vote

Yes thats all kinda over. But tonight specifically, I dont think its unlikely that she hurt more people on top of the ones she hurt in the past - so I guess my point still stands soz.

Also getting reelected doesnt mean she didnt hurt some of her constituents. Surely youre not implying Ann lived in a straight town for straight people who were against gay things.

Elected members of parliament can still hurt people with their decisions though, even if they do have the right to do that.

yes of course they can, and that's why choosing your MP and voting is incredibly important. Being intolerant of others opinions is not the way to achieve a progressive society. I am 100% certain of that. That is much, much more dangerous.

Perhaps. Or perhaps its an incredibly sensitive issue for young teens, and hearing someone of a similar age to their relatives express an opinion like this could be incredibly discouraging. Idk.

I think it's incredibly rare for teens to take notice of their parents views never mind their grandparents and those that do are very much in the minority

...and Shane debated it well...he didn't go off in a hissy fit because he is mature enough to debate unlike India.

Exactly. I thought it was such an interesting conversation, watching two people on the complete other ends of the spectrum discussing and debating in an adult like manner.

Yes, true. But 'Ann didnt hurt anyone' is what I responded to, she has and she probably did tonight too, fortunately Shane has presumably helped the people who were hurt by Ann's words on some level.

Don't be ridiculous if you take this form as a straw poll you wouldn't get one young person who agreed with Ann and very few of the oldies either, that said i respect her right to air her views and follow her faith without censure
