Don’t act awkward around him, because that will only make things worse. It obviously must have taken a lot of guts for him to tell you how he felt. At a young age though, especially in your teen years, it’s common to get confused about your feelings regarding relationships etc. Just continue your friendship as normal; now that he’s justified the ‘you’re so gay’ comments, that’s all the better.

When the time feels right, you can tell him your past feelings and how you feel about him. It was him that took the big first step for you through this particular incident, so it shouldn’t be as difficult when the time comes. Even if things don’t work out, since you’ve both been open and honest with each other your friendship should continue going strong.
