Sam Allardyce has left as Everton manager after six months at the club.

The 63-year-old signed a contract until June 2019 when he took over in November following the sacking of Ronald Koeman.

Everton, who were 13th in the Premier League when Allardyce arrived, finished the season in eighth.

Allardyce has been heavily criticised by fans for his management and Everton's style of play since he took over and the club said the decision was part of their "longer-term plan".

Football is not supposed to be about entertainment, it's about the results and under Allardyce the results had improved considerably.

I agree. They only finished 5 points behind Burnley which is a really good step in the right direction for them.

its fair enough that the club has ambitions, but if they want to attract a top level manager they will need to do a Chelsea or Man City by bringing in loads of quality players. It's the only way the big boys will consider managing them

Far to much emphasis on managers these days. It's the players that win and lose football games, not the manager.

Considering how far behind Burnley they was before he took over I think that's a strong finish.
