So can I ask - are all the admins and mods remaining the same?

Oh for a five second glance around Mod towers right now

I haven't been the same colour as Niamh since we ill-advisedly blacked up for a Destiny's Child cover act with Jessica for Eurovision 2010.

OK this has gone on too long now and James has not been back to clarify anything so I think this is whats happening..I may be wrong for saying this on the main forum tbh but people have been speculating all day so meh..nothing in this post is definite though

Mods are staying the same for now but possibly we will all get our own sections to moderate. I think this may solve some of the problems we are currently having BUT...obviously we are not online all of the time so we may possibly be getting another mod or two. This is not for sure...but its being discussed. Something has to change, and this seems the best compromise.

This is just my own idea so probably will not happen, but I do think that mods should be able to be banned and such if needed. We technically can be but we don't really get infractions...and I do think that we should be able to as obviously we can snap and be nasty/insulting when in the wrong mood..same as members can do.

We are discussing bringing back the appeals section also. Again, it may not happen, its just an idea thats been floated.

We had a large conversation about all of this this morning and James started to make changes but then real life beckoned and we were left just wondering, basically.

I may be very very wrong for asking this...but any suggestions from members are also welcome (but try not to target specific staff or anything, to avoid this thread turning into another bitchfest). We are aware that there are big problems right now, and yeah, something has to change

Thank you, Vicky, for these all sound like fair, reasoned and satisfactory proposals.

I for one think that if these are initiated then we all can move on from this whole sad, sorry mess.

Sounds good Vicky, having different sections to moderate will suit different personalities as well so I think that would work.

Appeals section, never used it but I guess for those that did would be a welcome return.

Thanks to all for the consideration.

I think the appeals section is a good idea, some where, where we can TALK to someone about our concerns and if we think something is unfair we can say so without getting infracted etc.I also agree mods should be treated as members if they cross the line and can face bans,it makes sense really ,otherwise they can more or less insult anyone.

Yes, I was just about to add that. I think an appeals section is vital really.

Appeals section should never have been gotten rid of because of the few that abused it, they should have just been banned from using it so I think it’d be good to be brought back

I honestly think 90% of the problems stem from people entering the thread, avoiding the topic entirely, and discussing themselves or other members. Obviously discussing other members is gonna garner responses from several people, and its a huge mess from thereon in.

I think give this a harsher punishment, and your jobs done.

I agree. But the thing is, it's largely the same people who regularly post in Serious Debates and give their views, so after a while you'll get the odd person who'll start using their views as a way to insult them. And then every thread ends up the same way, two groups of people arguing over a view that has nothing to do with the topic.

I'm not trying to set certain members apart from everybody else by saying that, but it's a common thing. In real life and real relationships too. After so many interactions with somebody you know what they like and what they don't and you know what to say to piss them off etc. It's natural. The problem is not knowing when you're crossing a line.

Ironic. But yes, if i entered a thread, much like you have, and started discussing forum members, much like you have, i think id deserve an infraction. Its not helpful or productive.

well its not ironic really because on many occasions the first post in a thread by you is ..oh Brillo it was so much better when you were banned, so sit down.

and that would deserve an infraction, its not helpful or productive. I dont see what youre doing now as much better tbh, id argue, under my rules im suggesting, that youd qualify for one here - it completely detracts from the discussion and brings up unnecessary drama.
