Arsenal today confirmed that Dutch youngster Oguzhan Ozyakup has signed professional terms at the Emirates having turned seventeen. The midfielder was lured from Eredivisie champions, and Gunner Champions League opponents, AZ Alkmaar in September 2008 and has been a regular in the youth ranks at Wenger’s esteemed Academy.

A statement on Arsenal.com confirmed:

“Young midfielder Oguzhan, who turned 17 on Wednesday, joined Arsenal from Dutch Champions AZ Alkmaar.

“Oguzhan has captained the Netherlands Under-16 side and was in the Under-17 team that reached the final of the European Championships in 2009. The central midfielder made 12 appearances for Arsenal’s Under-18s last season, scoring four times.

“Everyone at the Club is looking forward to Oguzhan’s continued contribution and development with Arsenal in the forthcoming years.”

Wolfsburg boss Armin Veh accepts he may lose star striker Edin Dzeko this January.

Manchester United, Tottenham and Arsenal have all been linked with the centre-forward and Veh says: "Of course players of his class attract the interest of other clubs.
