Yes, however I said that.
My point is that those vaccinated can still get covid and still infect others of all ages.

So until we have all vaccinated plus the nearest certainly of other strains not being resistant to the vaccine.
Then caution should be the main thing.

Long covid is devastating too.
Yes, it's not hospitalisation worrying about dying or in a comatose or sedated state, with possible death round the corner.

It's life limiting nonetheless, with many left with serious breathing problems and other internal organ damage too.

More is learned as time goes on but there's not enough data yet to be even certain of long term outcomes or effects of the vaccines.

To be fair Joey, we don't know that people who are vaccinated can still transmit the virus. We just don't know that they CAN'T so it's still sensible to act as though they can, until we have enough data to know for sure.

People will only listen for so long. I am surprised its kept up this long really, given SAGE were stressing even back last March thinking the public would only tolerate it for a very short while. Done a lot better than I thought for sure (I was positive, a LOT would ignore it this time around, but it seems to have still been 90% ish compliance, like in march?). This is why it HAS to be the last lockdown really. I cannot see people 'agreeing' to it again. Regardless of any stats changes or anything. Especially after being told for ages the vaccine is the way out. For it to change to 'oh no, actually its not'...

If they are out in the sunshine, they are unlikely to be spreading really. Look how the second wave never hit til schools went back...despite people crowding round each other (mainly outside...omg beaches, second wave, VE day, second wave, protests, second wave...never happened) for months over summer. It seems really hard to pass on outside..not including purposely coughing in someones face or something!

Well, exactly, we don't know they can't.
So it's possible they can..
Which means the only certain thing known is, it should prevent hospitalisation and being comatose or in a sedated state plus possible death.

Which is entirely the point.

My Mum was told to still carry on with her shielding even though she'd had the vaccination.

Of course more will get known as time passed , nowhere have I yet heard however for certain, that those vaccinated, can't get the virus or not infect others too.
In fact I can't see how if they can still get the virus how it's then possible they can't infect others.
The nature of infectious elements of the virus haven't changed

So I'll make sure I will and that my Mum dues too, err on the side of caution until certainty is known.

The vaccines currently help enormously, a lot of the problem remains however until.much more, and I mean much more is known and analysed, especially after the second vaccinations too.

I know I come across rather paranoid on covid, I'll admit I am and not the best of people to discuss it with.
As for the first time just about for me, I can't separate the personal devastation from much else over this pandemic.
So I'm quite content to be a little paranoid.
It's why I avoid even saying much on covid on here now too.

I'll just keep myself, my Mum and mine as safe as they'll let me.

I personally can’t wait to go out to the gyms, pubs and clubs. Will go the second they’re available. That will be once all the elderly, vulernable and older folks will have been vaccinated - so let’s not make people feel guilty for living their lives. If people choose to not take the vaccine then that’s on them if they get sick as unfortunate as it is (it is highly highly unlikely to impact children and under 30s and these will be the people unvaccinated by this point..). My sympathies do lie with people who cannot be vaccinated but this population is literally less than 1% of the population and there are multiple vaccines to further decrease this percentage, but the world cannot stop. Sadly some may die with it in their system still, but the majority of these deaths probably won’t even be linked to covid-19 due to their immunity once vaccinated... also unfortunately people do die of illness in life - if they didn’t the world would not sustain.

I have already booked multiple festivals this year and I’m looking forward to it!

Some good news is that by tomorrow we will have made it through the three coldest months of the year where covid is most transmissible.

I don't blame you. I am not a drinker at all really but once I can, will be in the pub

Taxi driver yesterday said he was dreading the 'proper opening' (meaning, allowed to serve indoors) as he reckons it will be at least a week, maybe longer...of new year style crowds. And half the drivers dont work there at the min either, so those who do will have to weather it til they KNOW the works there

Maybe not so GREAT is the breaking news that at least 6 cases of the more worrying Brazilian variant has been found today in England and Scotland..

The article says they’re going to contact them but I’d prefer to see them being isolated somewhere.

one of my mom's nieces had the AstraZeneca vaccine today

some of those AZ vaccinations are being done in one of my cities landmarks, Evoluon (with its waiting room in the restaurant of that building)

It's Sunday's figures for starters.
Plus they should be better numbers, not that I'd call over 100 deaths great.

They should HOWEVER be better figures, we've been in lockdown since 6th January..

It would be massively worrying if they weren't improving as to still rising infections and rising deaths of loved ones.

It doesn't matter what day it is because you can compare week on week to last Sunday and they're way better

Cases 39% lower than last Sunday, deaths 33% lower than last Sunday

Take the win, don't poke holes
