Not the best start of movies for me to watch / do reviews on.
![]() I've seen Circle... I'll maybe try to remember it enough to post a little review. Maybe I'll convince myself to get around to re-watching it soon. It's a good movie for sure IMO. Bone Tomahawk looks pretty bad and probably won't fit my taste at all. Sorority Row IS really bad and I don't have a good enough memory of it to write any type of review - and definitely wouldn't re-watch it. ![]() There's a stretch of 3-4 straight movies later in the month that I'll for sure watch though.

Sorority Row
a movie which i had watched 5 times if i'm honest good characters, decent storyline bit slasher, bit mystery with the audience trying to find out who the killer is, and similar to scream that gets revealed near the end of the movie yes i quite enjoy this movie everytime i watch it 9/10

Sorority Row (2009)
3/10 I didn't enjoy this one at all. I saw the original House on Sorority Row about six years ago but I don't remember much about it to compare. However I found this underwhelming, even by slasher standards. It had nothing going for it and for the most part, was increasingly dull with characters to match. The film just felt trashy to me and was an example of all the least desirable aspects of the genre; cheapened with jump scares and relying simply on gore alone, neither of which deliver the scares when there's little suspense to begin with. The killer reveal in itself was entirely laughable with a lack of motive, but then again, that might have been different if I gave a shit about any of the characters. |

I think we should just assume that everyone who didn't review Bone Tomahawk gave it 10/10 and were lost for words.
Thanks Nicky ![]()

Sorority Row: 7/10
I actually enjoy this movie whenever I watch it. Obviously not a slasher masterpiece but it's fun for what it is. Not really much to say about it because there isn't anything here that hasn't been done countless times before or since but as far as slashers go, it's one of the decent ones. My main issue is the unnecessary final scene, it's such an overdone cliche for horror movies to end with a sort of "The End OR IS IT?!?!" sequel hook. It's as bad as jump scares in how overused it is and it leaves me feeling irritated at the end which is a shame when I've liked the movie up to that point. Actually, the three survivors walking away from the burning sorority house would have been a great final scene so it's annoying they felt the need to tack on that last scene. Thursday 12th October 2017 - All the Boys Love Mandy Lane (2006)
![]() The plot centers on a group of popular high schoolers who invite an attractive outsider, Mandy Lane, to spend the weekend at a secluded ranch house, where they are followed by a merciless killer.

Sorority Row
![]() This is, for me, one of the most fun movies chosen on this countdown. It is by no means a masterpiece but I don't believe that was ever it's intention, I firmly believe it was always meant to be a fun throw away slasher much akin to the 80's micro budget ones people loved. I see a lot of people claiming they never cared about the characters but I honestly really liked the core group, I think Briana Evigan (Cassidy) and Leah Pipes (Jessica) did a brilliant job, Briana brought Cassidy to life when in all honesty the script makes her really bland. Jamie Chung (Claire) was also very likeable I think. Compared to the original I believe the characters here are much more developed and likeable. I thought the plot was pretty good, too. I was happy enough with the change up from the original and I think the prank was believable enough. The kills here were all pretty solid too, I especially liked Chugs death. I loved Carrie Fishers cameo too. There are a few things that hold it back though, the killers reasoning for murdering everyone was so stupid I would have prefered a vengeful relative of Megan. Ellie (Rumer Willis) was an annoying waste of space, I willed her to die all the way though and I was sad she survived when much more likeable characters like Claire died. I also felt a few scenes were added to up the body count and lure in guys after boobs. All in all I enjoy this movie, I have seen it a fair few times and I still find it entertaining. It does have it's faults but if you go in looking for a fun slasher this is a great little movie. 7/10

All the Boys Love Mandy Lane (2006)
Amber Heard plays a good role as Mandy Lane, the lead character i like those ranch themed horror movies, also a shocker who the killer is, another good score for that i think drowning, stabbing, shotgun so yeah multiple weapons also good if you love the bloody horror movies, unlike saw where you only have the chainsaw also bloody but multiple weapons is quite nice in a movie for various scary action scenes and also a unexpected ending yeah my score is a great 9.5/10, underrated by the critics why only 41% at rotten tomatoes i don't understand that good movie with only a $750,000 for movie budget in making this

Sorority Row The film starts off with a bunch of semi-clad teens at a realistic-for-slashers / not-at-all-realistic house party, before swiftly introducing us to the stock main characters consisting of the bitchy one, the ethnic one "I like you because you make me feel multi-cultural", the brainy one (Deirdre Barlow wants her glasses back), the slutty one and the ingenue, and something tells me this is going to be a pretty basic slasher film. It wastes no time in getting to the main premise (and i doubt much thought was wasted in coming up with it either ![]() Anyway Slutty is killed first (pretendstobeshocked.gif) and I quite liked her death tbh. It was simple and original. You could see it coming but it still took me by surprise in the moment. (There was also some really weird editing and out of place cuts to the party being set up in amongst this where I'm guessing lots of cuts were made but they still wanted to show some boobs in the hot tub and I found that quite distracting but anyway.) The rest of the deaths were kind of disappointing though, I found them generally quite unimaginative and just there for the sake of it. I thought it was really funny btw when they received a picture message of the murder weapon and because none of them have any brain cells (Brainy really let her archetype down) they decide that by deleting the message the problem will go away lmao <3. I was kind of hoping that there'd be a good twist with the killer reveal because they were really trying to convince us about the 'it's Megan back from the dead' thing and I wasn't having it, like they're building up the expectations of the reveal by pushing this 'fantastical' angle and then it's like, oh, it was just that guy. I'm actually not going to judge this film too much on it's plot because that would be missing the point but can we just at the lameness of it all! His motivation made no sense whatsoever and none of what he did during the film as the killer with the taunting etc tied into his motivation in the slightest, it was actually ridiculous and insulting and clearly an afterthought. Also there's nothing about the solution that would make me want to watch the film again, like seeing the character from another perspective or anything. In fact it would probably be annoying watching it knowing who the killer would turn out to be ![]() It should have been Brainy, or Brainy plus boyfriend. They were having an affair, she'd gone crazy because of what happened with Megan and was manipulating him or something. Idk, anything would have been better. Oh actually the one good thing that ties into the killer reveal was the girl who was killed in the showers after overhearing about Megan's death. At the time I thought it was just a random killing but actually it is a clue that the killer isn't someone who's out for revenge, but it was someone who was killing anyone who knew about what had happened, so it was about knowledge of the Megan killing, not the killing of Megan itself. So that was quite good in retrospect (although there's too much that doesn't make sense or add up for me to give too much credit for that). So yeah this was very much a slasher by numbers, but that's not actually a bad thing. As much as I've criticised it, I actually enjoyed it throughout ![]() The main thing that lets the film down is the kills. Slutty's was good like I said but it should have gone up from there and the rest were just meh, and I can forgive all it's other shortcomings because as a slasher B-movie it's main hook should be the kills. They should be absurd, outlandish, funny... Scream can get away with often just stabbing people because there's so much more to it, where killings are a necessity but you're enjoying it on more levels than that. But when the plot is this thin, when the characters are this unlikeable, when the dialogue is average and the jokes fall flat, when there's little to no imagination in any of these things and they're not even trying, you really are relying on the kills and the set ups to them and it sort of fails in that regard. However, and I'm probably being far too generous given what I've just said, but all of its faults aside I did enjoy watching it, and I'd actually watch it again if I was drunk and with friends and I'd probably enjoy it again in that scenario. It works as a genre film and on a scale of Halloween Resurrection to Scream it fits somewhere in the region of I Still Know What You Did Last Summer... which makes it good if you like that kind of thing but not good if you don't? I do like that kind of thing though so I give it 7/10. Mess that I wrote so much for such a basic film :/

Mandy Lane
Meh. It was fine. Wont watch it again, but glad I watched it once. Didn't see the twist Spoiler: More of an explanation as to why the murders and the last minute backstab happened would have it better imo. Not much to add here either, it's just another generic horror. 6.5/10

I disagree. I was glad it wasn't fully explained, She was just a manipulative bitch who orchestrated the perfect crime to eliminate the ****ty people from her school, Emmet was just a pawn in her twisted game.
