there have been all sorts of stories about Torode over the years, so this really isn't a new revelation. I think with these type of shows, the BBC has very little day to day involvement. All the work is contracted out to a production company. I honestly think the issue here is the BBC really messed up at the concert they were in full control of, so they are now saying to the public ..... look over there it's much more interesting

Nice but dim Tim has had his say
BBC director-general Tim Davie has condemned the “serious racist term” used by presenter John Torode, after it was announced his contract on MasterChef will not be renewed. Australian-born Torode, 59, started presenting MasterChef alongside Gregg Wallace in 2005. On Monday night, Torode confirmed he was the subject of an allegation of using racist language that was upheld as part of a review carried out by law firm Lewis Silkin into the alleged behaviour of his co-presenter Wallace. Torode broke his silence on his sacking on social media this evening. In an interview with BBC News on Tuesday, Davie said he saw the situation as an opportunity for the corporation to “reset”. He said he was not directly involved with the matter but was told about the recommendation not to renew Torode’s contract and was “happy that the team were taking action” He went on: “It’s really important that we are taking this seriously. It’s a reset where we make sure that people are living up to the values we expect across the board.” https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknew...0cbd003a&ei=22

…the BBC/Masterchef producers are the ones who look worst/awful in this as it’s taken them 7 years to take action on something that they deemed to be ‘extremely offensive’…

Imo the BBC should be in trouble for damaging someone's reputation with zero evidence.

at the end of the day, they aren't sacking him, they are just not renewing his contract, so the whole thing is being done to distract

yeah I said this yesterday, Sky reported it as being at work, when it had previously been reported as a social situation, its a complete stitch up and apart from that he found out on social media he had been sacked, what a great way to treat long standing members of the 'BBC family'

Masterchef was getting stale anyway. Didn't watch the last couple. So it probably should be axed now.

Maybe a bit of Gregg nudity would've added a bit of spice to the programme. ![]()

the only Masterchef i watch these days, is Masterchef Australia
the choices made who gets eliminated or goes through in the UK version i always found kinda weird either, compared to the Australian version, where they are much more strict to only let the best of the best advance, but also offering way more variety of challenges, in terms of the ''guest judge vs contestant cook off'' or the elimination pressure test, for the bottom 5 even the US version has more excitement to it, with Gordon Ramsay in the judge panel (Gordon btw has been a guest judge on the australian version too last few recent seasons, he even had to judge his daughter Tilly, on the celebrity version there ![]() |

i don't use the n word, but i do think its ridiculous that a section of society can use it with impunity and others lose their jobs for saying it. Where is the equality
