Silver bells. It was a nice surprise, because I thought it was wonderful. Good performances and really heart felt. 8/10

Just watched Rogue One to tide me over until I can see Episode VIII. Loved the tie-ins to the original trilogy and most of the characters.
Spoiler:

Shame there won't be any more of them in the films.

Would give it a strong 8/10.

Starwars VIII: The Last Jedi:

It was good although not as good as episode VII. 3.75/5 or 7.5/10.

Spoiler:

Luke should have been more part of the movie and actually being there fighting against Kylo, not just as a ghost projection.
Killing Snoke this early was a surprise.

Call Me By Your Name

Much better than the novel as it cuts down on a lot of the endless pretension and quite frankly weird interactions between Elio and Oliver (could have done with them completely cutting out the jizzy peach scene though, although it's less stupid here than it is in the book but still pretty terrible). The performances were great (particularly by Timothée Chalamet and the actors who play his parents who are better realised in the film then they are in the book) and I liked the last shot a lot in particular.

A well made film and adaptation of a poor source material.

8/10

The Greatest Showman

It's nothing but candy coated fluff but it's good fluff. Far from historically accurate but it never tries to be, while the story was a little generic, I enjoyed the performances and thought that most of the songs were pretty good. It probably won't prove to be a very memorable film but I enjoyed it for what it was.

7/10

Maze - Interesting story and it was all shot in Cork (eventhough it was supposed to be NI) 7/10

Jumanji - Really enjoyed it, it did a good job of bringing the story into the future 7.5/10

Moneyball - It was alright, maybe would have been more interesting if I had any interest or knowledge in Baseball though 6/10

Small rant on Star Wars:

Spoiler:

Now that i think about it, Star Wars VII and VIII are very good as singular movies, but as a the saga continuations they are pretty crap and disappointing.

They have killed the best character of the saga, Han Solo. And now the original hero of the saga, Luke is dead also. And in quite of a disappointing way also, even though he was kind of cool in it. Leia will be gone in the next one to full the trifecta. I know they are trying to drive a new set of faces through, but maybe they could have used the old heroes much better gathering that this whole Saga is so popular mainly because them. And Vader.

And we are left with the new three heroes; Rei, who is too powerful even when she has never trained and Finn/Ross who are pretty boring.

Only one remotely interesting is Kylo and he is kind of a sniveling wuss.

Killing Snoke like it was nothing was also stupid, when they made him to be as kind of the new Sith Lord.

I know it´s a bit of a 180 degrees turn from me, but i have had more of a think of it.

Watched the original Jumanji on Netflix with my 8 year old... obviously enjoyed by all because it is ossm. She was baffled (as was I, a bit!) that I could say various lines before they came on in the film... given that I probably haven't seen it for 15 years

"WHAT. YEAR. IS IT??"
"Run! It's a STAAAYMPEEEED!"

And of course the classic burn;

"What happened to you? The Clampetts have a yard sale?"

For a rating I'll say 8/10. The film itself is still excellent but the effects haven't aged as well as some other 90's movies.

Spoiler:

I agree with the Skywalker disappointment, at least, and that it was daft that Kylo could trick / kill Snoke so easily. IMO If Skywalker had to go, he should have fought and taken out Snoke... They gave us that annoying tease with the fake Kylo fight that Luke's abilities had been developed to "prequel trilogy" Jedi levels and yet we don't get a full-powered Jedi Master vs Sith Lord fight... Lame! I disagree that they've made Rei too powerful, basically Rei and Kylo both have a lot of raw power but zero honing of that power... Which is why they can go toe to toe with each other but would both have had their arse handed to them by Luke (or any of the prequel Jedi or Sith such as Obi Wan, Qui Gon, Anakin, Mace Windu, Maul, Dooku etc.).

I want a proper lightsabre battle damnitttt!

Get Out.
Wanted to watch it for quite a long time. It was as good as I thought it would be, an intelligent horror/thriller film

A Lonely Place To Die (2011)
8/10 > entertaining horror/thriller with some tense moments

The Frighteners (1996)
7/10 > watched the directors cut for the first time which is 17 minutes longer then the theatrical version but I didn't notice any difference while watching

Robot Overlords (2014)
5/10 > had it's moments which were really good but the ropy acting was cringey sometimes especially Gillian Anderson's accent

Train to Busan

I loved it, while it doesn't do anything new, what it does it does well. The social commentary was interesting and I thought the film had a lot of heart. It does suffer a little bit from characters making dumb decisions to benefit the plot but it's forgivable for the most part.

9/10

three billboards outside ebbing Missouri; 7.5/10
I'm incredibly confused about how I feel towards this film. on the one hand the cast is incredible and the characters are so strong and every single background character has their own little arcs and developments in the most realistic way possible and the acting is BRILLIANT yet this is so tonally off that it distracts you from the actual film multiple times and the comedic element to three billboards is awful and not needed. and the whole blue lives matter storyline is bs. overall its a good film but it needs work and doesn't deserve the amount of praise its got

Perfect Stranger
9/10 > hooked from start to finish I've seen it before but I forgot how good this was until I re watched it, all details in how it was done in the final 20 minutes was clever and well done

Hitman 2: Agent 47
8/10 > surprisingly very good for a sequel but I can't remember the first one so I don't know if it was better or worse even tho I gave the first 8/10 also

Jack & Jill
8/10 > don't understand why this was voted the worst Adam Sandler film I thought is was way better than Big Daddy,Spanglish, with Funny People being the worst

Jigsaw - I really enjoyed it 7/10
Spoiler:

The twist was pretty good eventhough they only pulled it off by throwing a massive red herring in there and letting us all assume the 5 captives were the same as the ones who's bodies that were turning up, still though I can forgive that to be surprised at the end

Mother - Meh was totally confused by the end, it was a kind of annoying film, I think maybe if I had have read what they were trying to do beforehand I might have enjoyed it more because I never clicked on to that while watching 4.5/10

The Vow - Nice cheesy, fluff 6.5/10

Half of "Girl's Trip". I knew I would hate it but... honestly. Literally some of the worst trash I have ever seen. I never give up on films half way through but we just couldn't take any more. Genuinely awful. I can't even give it a score.

Insanely good

I don’t have to watch anything else to know that Best Actress, best Supporting Actor and best picture should be nailed on

Cinematrophy really good as well. Reminded me of where I stayed in September

Great film but she nearly ruined it IMO. Should have cast someone else. She’s a great actress, just wasn’t very good in this and her American accent was terrible
