I've just tweeted Sarah Jayne Dunn to ask when Mandy is back on screen and she replied that she thinks it's the 9th August.

I remember the Ste/Amy Domestic Abuse plot. It was chilling to watch and well thought out, both Kieron and Ashley were great and Ashley was brave having her ponytail chopped off for real in the storyline, at least it looked realistic than having the wig cut.

That domestic abuse storyline is one of the many reasons I have never taken Brendan/Ste/Amy's storyline seriously. A complete personality transplant for Ste.

In a way Ste has actually experienced what Amy felt when he was doing it to her, that's my sick way of looking at this storyline.

True on both counts. But his sudden transformation from teenage thug who got his girlfriend up the duff and wouldn't amount to anything Barnsey wanted for Amy, unable to get a job to very camp, colourful, out and proud gay man going out with people like Noah is very hard to swallow.

I still believe it was just to try and cash in on Kieron's Dancing on Ice publicity after he came out as gay in real life. And I don't really rate him as an actor at all. He can be good, but he can be very bad too.

I think Ste was very dislikeable at the start but there was a glimmer of something redeeming there at the time, where as for people like Gaz ugh.

Agreed on the second point. Think Kieron is one of the best actors in the show atm but Bronagh Waugh is underrated IMO, she can do both the comedy and strong material but should be having a meaty storyline for her character (not involving men) because we would get to learn more about Cheryl, instead of her connections to other people in the village.

100% agree. They introduced all these links for her and forgot about her as her own individual character in the process. They really need to give her something proper to do. But I think I could say that about half the cast.

When they've got characters like Warren, Mandy, Cindy, Frankie, Darren, Jack, Nancy, Cheryl, Tony and Jacqui it irritates me when they waste time on pointless Noah's, Doug's, Ruby's, Theresa's, Ethan's and Liberty's.

I'm not enjoying the show a hell of a lot at the moment and will automatically call it crap when watching stuff like the episode where they were at T4 on the Beach yet when you wade through the sewage you actually notice the basis of a great cast there that the producers need to utilise and expand upon. Give the good/classic characters the stories and stick the easy on the eye bad actors in the background.

Like what exactly are they planning on doing with Cindy? I think we've gathered she's stinking rich, but it's made me lose interest. She wouldn't realistically have returned if she inherited all those millions.

Exactly, again it leads to having too much cast. Most of the audience seem to prefer the older characters, some of the younger cast do have potential but then certain characters are bringing the show down.

Hollyoaks should really be taking notice of viewer feedback more, yes the show is a teen soap and is clearly aimed at the younger demographic but there is no harm in focusing on the older characters too and give them time to shine.

I agree with the Ste stuff. Being a teen thug seemed to come natural to him and he was such a better actor then. Like was watching the old xmas clips where him and Justin broke into the SU bar, it just seemed so much more natural from him. Now we just get jerky stammering lines and awkward faces from them, and him shouting at Brenden though the window was just cringey. The last good storyline I remember him having was the baby snatching one

Hey Joe. The baby snatching storyline started off well then the TPTB aka Lucy Allan ruined it, the actors who played Daniel and Abi were good during it though.

Yeah they were good. Yeah I noticed there wasn't much of a climax and it ended up bad, guess that is when it started going downhill

The ending was dreadful. I really liked Abi, well I really like Elaine Glover's acting too.

I have mixed feelings on Steph's exit too because Mal's death ended up being more emotional.

I am actually really enjoying Hollyoaks at present, I am a bit sick of Ste and Brendan but I think Kieron Richardson is doing a good job of someone fighting his demons and mixed up emotions.

I said on here the other day, I was disappointed with the character Nancy's silly storylines,well tonight I have to take that back because she was excellent in her controlled confrontation of Ruby.

Me too, fun Gilly was ace. I still think Gilly didn't do it, we'll be seeing what really happened at the end of the year according to Claire Cooper anyway.

I agree, at the moment Hollyoaks has been better the last few episodes then it has over the last couple of months.

Maybe the improvements are starting to filter in because the character interaction is much better but they do need to keep the consistency, which it's always struggled with.

Obvious that Nancy is part of the Silas storyline, my gut instinct is that he'll try to kill her but would be gutted if she was a shock victim. They need to give her more storylines for sure!

He might be back before then, she didn't mention when Gilly is back on screen.

Hollyoaks did say that Gilly was sticking around so they will find some way of keeping him in the show.

At least this storyline focused on the debates and the effect of what possibly being falsely accused of a crime can do or if the person did it how it affects the victim, this was a more complex rape storyline than a few I seen in other soaps IMO but they were just as good as this one..

Exactly, it was too soon and I felt it went against the character of Jacqui.

I hope they really can show a sensitive side to Mercedes once the affair is revealed and do something with her issue based, e.g. self loathing storyline so we get to understand her again and so she doesn't have a new man so soon but I hold my breath on that one LOL.

I think Paul Marquess randomly coming into the show to mix things up being given the opportunity to write Steph out after her being in the show ten years was an unfortunate travesty. It was absolutely woeful. Carly Stenson deserved a much better plotted and written exit. It all felt very random. Mal's death was also done in a random and silly way but his last scenes in the hospital made up for it.

Yeah, wasn't it Steph could've got out but just chose to die cos she was in there anyway? I mean you'd think she'd still want to spend it with her fam and that.
