He'll probably just be added to the plethora of shit characters the show has killed off over the years tbh...I think I'd place Derek in the same bracket as Trevor, Johny Allen, Jake and Kevin.

I was on about Derek lol not Kirsty
I agree that she may well prove herself to be the best thing about EE for some time now.

A wife abuser a great character?
And I never really warmed to Johnny tbh. I guess he was all right for a villain but he just seemed so controlling over Ruby. I think her and Tina were the best thing to come out of that character. I agree that he was a much better character than Derek, though (mind, that wouldn't exactly prove particularly difficult).

No worries.
Yeah, it was good..except it got a bit silly towards the end (Phil hiring Juley to sleep with Ruby to piss him off).

just watched it as an outsider, why on earth did the grey cardigan boy suddenly start running over showing concern when he was dead when it was clear he was having a heart attack for 20 seconds or so

Lauren is an alcoholic and she and Joey ran away after Derek and Tanya found out about what they were doing and while Joey was driving Lauren distracted him and they crashed into a shop. Derek saved them from the flames, but Joey took the blame to protect Lauren.

'EastEnders' tops Corrie to Christmas Day ratings crown
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/s2/ea...ngs-crown.html Get in. Low figures than previous years for both though!

just think it was a bit silly how none of them really realised he was having a heart attack when it was pretty obvious

eastenders was utter crud. so unrealistic depressing and stupid. they might as well get aliens to appear as the programe never ever has realistic storylines.
was that the big xmas episode. derek doesn't do anything aand has heart attack and dies. meanwhile kat stares at alfie like she cant remember her lines for the millionth time, and max has a secret wife lol. poor soooooo poor whoever writes it should be sacked. it really is dire tv with zero imagination. guess we got the whole phil alexia storyline yet more unralistic stupidity that no one cares about

As has been said numerous times on here, the whole point of watching a television show is to form opinions on it - positive or negative or whatever else - and you can't really tell someone not to watch just because you don't like their views. It's just immature and the sort of reasoning that a 15-year-old would exhibit. And the fact that EE won the Christmas ratings means nothing. 2012 has been a thoroughly disappointing year for the show, as evidenced by its ratings - which have actually been the lowest on record? Doesn't that totally contradict that ratings argument? I agree. I like the way Corrie at Christmas feels more realistic and is what you'd expect off a typical Christmas anywhere ... not someone dropping dead after a blazing row with siblings and some mystery pyscho wife turning up out of nowhere (although I didn't mind it) and wrecking havoc in the Branning family, as usual.
