Either way, looking at the prices of the players in your team, I don't think it's fair to claim you've been underfunded.
I see where you are coming from and It's a fair point, but I'm not saying we have been underfunded. Just that in comparison to our revenues and success we have. I mean this is a club that makes record sorting revenues after all..

Are they part of the Liverpool squad?

Also paid for by Fernando Torres. Should I count his transfer fee under the current Liverpool players that cost decent money?

I thought this was comparing who outspent who, not who is currently playing.

Didn't Dirk Kuyt cost about 15 million?

He was around £12/13m, or less than a Jose Reye/Sylvan Wiltord in modern money - but he's not part of the squad.

the original point was that Liverpool had out spent United which you claimed was untrue. personally I dont see what Wiltord or Reyes have to do with whether Liverpool have outspent Man Utd.

http://transferleague.co.uk/league-t...-to-today.html

United have outspent us, and they used to outspend us every year as I was growing up watching united spend untold riches (which to be fair - they earned themselves) and clean up the silverware. There has been a balancing over the last few years as the glazers haven't spent, united received a transfer world record for cristiano, and we had new owners that rather misplaced a lot of money with the king and Commoli.

I'm not bleating - it's a lot closer than I thought it would be. Having whiskey nose in charge enabled them to not have to build 3/4 different teams for different managers every 4 years. We've wasted a lot of money - you'd never get an honest Liverpool fan say otherwise. We also have spent our own money, and we were also propping up american owners. We've found ourselves in a mess at different times, and even before Rafa came there was no "Big 4", it was a "big 3", so rafa had to build a new squad, with lots of turnover of players for relatively small money.

It's all if's buts and maybe's anyway, as Houllier had a deal for Ronaldo before united, but Liverpool refused to pay his agent £1m to sign him, and Rafa had a deal wrapped up for Aguero before Atletico, but Parry wouldn't pay the £14m for such a young player.

Footie is a game of fine margins, and ours is a club that's been racked with incompetence, sometimes at the top, sometimes at the bottom, and often at both.

Is that supposed to be a bad thing? Kuyt has been one of our best and most consistent players over the past 10 years.

Again, we were discussing if Liverpool had outspent United and I think they had.

I doubt if Arsenal will make it in to 4th spot too but I kind of hope we dont cuz then it will be viewed as a bad season and Wenger will probably spend about 100 million in August. Like he always does when he's under pressure but he decides to spend virtually nothing when he can argue that we've had a good season. This year having to admit he's got it wrong will hopefully jolt the old codger into action especially if we dont win the FA cup.

Liverpool has spent boatloads. No club has spent as much as them since 1990 without winning their league. It's why this whole "Liverpol the underdogs" story this year is pretty funny to me. They aren't spending Chesea/City money obviously but they aren't some broke club relying on its accademy to win the league either.

Easy question - what position did you think Liverpool would finish the season in?

Answer honestly.

Now you'll see why we're underdogs, and we've only spent the money we've earned. There are teams you can criticise for spending ludicrous money in football - but Liverpool isn't one. We've spread our money too thin at times instead of getting one good player, we've signed 3 players.

Regardless of your bad feeling to being more liked by more people, and coupled with your own terrible season, there is no denying that Liverpool are the underdogs.

Jose Mourinho has spent £100m since his return, and Pellegrini spent not far off that too. We spent a ****load less this summer.

Anyway this has gone crazy off topic. Let's get back to how clueless Moyes is

We can all agree on that

We'll struggle to make top four next season if Moyes is still boss. We could sign Messi and Ronaldo, it doesn't change the fact he's tactically inept.

So the table tells us that Liverpool have spent more, but sold more to have a lower net spend. I said that Liverpool have outspent us, but sold a lot due to poor players being bought in in fairness

Don't get me wrong as much as I may hate Liverpool they are at least spending money off their own revenue not due to some big money owner and I can respect them a lot more than City or Chelsea for example. You also said it yourself..look how close the Purchasing,Selling and Net spend is between us and then in comparison to the difference in revenues which I believe is around 200m to 400m+.

Sales is all part of what any club spend. It's basic maths. I think there needs to be quantifiers added to that figure as well. Take ROy Keane who cost £3.75m - that was as much as 8 clubs (including Liverpool and Arsenal) spent in that season. Rio Ferdinand for £30m in 01/02/03 is not worth the same as today.

I'm not disputing the figures, but like I said - we've caught you up over the last few years because you've hardly spent anything, and we pissed a load of cash up the wall.

We were spending £7-10m each season, at the same time you were spunking 30m on Veron, so it can never be accounted for, but our spending is a result of more money floating around the game generally these days.

Carra was getting abused at Munich airport the other night by a load of mancs, all chanting "you scouse bastard", "we hate scousers", and "build a bonfire".

He turned round and said "it's no wonder Rooney doesn't want to ******ing play for you".

That 'you Scouse b@stard' is so ridiculous. I remember just a few weeks back in the United - Liverpool game they were chanting it at Gerrard whilst Rooney was trying to win the ball back from him.

Football fans acting like blinkered idiots (all fans - not just united/Liverpool) is hardly the shock of the century.
