I'm enjoying this premiere but it's playing out exactly how I imagined so it's hurting the suspense a bit. Well, I figured either Tony vs. Sandra immediately or literally Ciera (or Varner) & then Tony vs. Sandra in the second half. Even Mana losing both of the first two IC's was predictable. Still relatively entertaining though, in particular in the second half.

My enthusiasm for the season has gone dooown with Tony gone already. The one person I wanted to last for at least a little while. There's still plenty to root for though so I'll have to see the way it plays out.

Good thing is she is becoming very comfortable in her position as the so called Queen pin. Too comfortable.

Oh and I really need to start getting used to the fact that when they point everything in one direction: "weakest link" >>> "Sandra" >>> "weakest link Sandra" post-challenge then the result is actually going the other way. Like that would've been toooo predictable.

I'm stunned that we went from "half the cast questions Sandra's merits as a Survivor player despite winning twice" to "Sandra's corralling up her evil mafia through manipulation JUST LIKE SHE DID IN HER OTHER SEASONS" so quickly. Not to mention that this is the first time that Sandra's starting off on a losing tribe and she's getting tested immediately and she's passing with flying colors. I think that's more impressive to me than however she places this season.

Now that the episode has sank in, some random final thoughts for the premiere:

This episode felt super rushed and forced but had an entertaining second half nonetheless. For example, fitting in Tony's idol searching, his underground spy shack (lame ), etc. felt forced/rushed, as did the reasoning for Ciera's boot. Also, this really hurts Tony's image for me, not because he wasn't good (he was very solid this episode IMO and got a big edit) but because after a full season of Cagayan Tony, this version of Tony for 2 hours is disappointing. Sandra was excellent and I might be #TeamSandra more than anyone else moving forward despite wanting her out between the two options tonight lol. At this moment she's my favorite this season. Finally, a looot of people were super irrelevant this episode but on the Nuku tribe at least it's pretty understandable when there's 20 people and they didn't go to tribal council either time. Michaela was one of the most entertaining ones outside of all the Tony vs. Sandra drama. Caleb was great as well. But not sure why he turned on Tony unless it was just not having the numbers. Next episode they'll probably explain more on Malcolm/Caleb/Aubry's thought process though. I look forward to more screen time for the new tribes next episode because there are still a whole bunch of people I do like on this season.
