In this case it seems pretty clear that he's no-debating the issue because he doesn't actually have good or solid debate points on the topic and he knows it. He can't debate it so defaults to "this isn't up for discussion". |

When I did Philosophy at Uni level, one of the first things they taught on the subject (which is, effectively, the study of thinking) is that there are no "wrong answers", only "poor arguments". That a stance you don't agree with should still be respected if the person stating it can explain their reasoning and logic well. You'll find that eventually there's a premise that you disagree on and that leads to the divergence of opinion, but that's OK... It's still a well reasoned personal opinion.
If someone CANNOT or REFUSES TO do that then in all likelihood, the opinion hasn't been formed by themselves, it's been indoctrinated by or copied from someone else. I wonder if they still teach that? I imagine there'd be a lot of kickback... Last edited by user104658; 22-06-2023 at 09:46 AM. |

to be fair it's not just transgender issues these days. The intellectual level of people has fallen off a cliff. They just don't listen to any other point of view and insult anyone who dares to voice an alternative view

Yes, it's a very pick a side type of mentality and I think that's certainly come from social media and the internet. People aren't thinking things through for themselves so much anymore

What I will say as a major positive of my daughter's school is that their approach on gender has essentially been to let them experiment/play and just not really get involved, but to nip bullying of any kind in the bud. This has been a major positive in both ways IMO. There was a large cohort of girls suddenly identifying as boyd early on ... but the reaction was "OK sure whatever you do you". They didn't get special attention for it and they didn't get to cry persecution because it was accepted. On the same vein, when 90% of those girls "backtracked" to their natal gender and original name, there was no shame or embarrassment, it was just an "Oh OK you're Susan again, hi Susan
" with little to no fanfare. Makes it easier to "back out" if it goes without judgement.Tell you what though it's bloody confusing as a parent! "What about your pal Mikey?" "...who?" "Mikey!! Mike! Your friend??" "shrug" "...used to be Michelle at your primary school??" "Oh yah Michelle is Michelle again sorry I frgot "I struggle to keep up. One of her friends had different 5 names in less than a year and my daughter got mad if I had no idea who she was talking about . Plus one of the names was "Carlos". Carlos! This is a very, very pasty pale Scottish adolescent female. Carlos.

That sounds like a really sensible approach TS, let the kids work through it on their own, go through puberty and most will desist without having done anything irreversible or damaging to their bodies

Essex schoolgirls sexually assaulted in gender-neutral toilets
![]() A school has called in police over allegations that female pupils were sexually assaulted in its gender-neutral lavatories. A teenage boy has been arrested over four allegations of “serious sexual assault” at the Essex school. The Daily Telegraph understands three of the alleged attacks took place in lavatories used by boys and girls. The case has led MPs and campaigners to question the safety of mixed-sex lavatories and changing rooms days before the Government is expected to release its transgender guidance for schools. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/202...utral-toilets/ |

SIGH

What I don’t think LT realises is that mixed toilets aren’t boys and girls with the little man or woman taken off the doors. If they’re anything like the mixed toilets here then it would be a corridor with separate cubicles of toilets. More fear mongering for easily led.

I'm not sure where you went to school that would have had the budget to be building whole new purpose-built toilet blocks to pander to gender identity... but it certainly wasn't the UK state school system .

Sounds like if anyone wanted to sexually assault someone, it doesn’t matter where they’d do it. Or are you telling me no women have ever been raped in a woman’s toilet?

So you actually stand by that logic? "Why bother vetting preschool staff? Waste of time and energy! If paedos really want to get at children they'll get 'em anyway!" |
