I did wonder that (would be an incredibly easy task to manipulate), but Sarah *did* win the first task by a long shot, and then Dean genuinely did give much more brutally honest answers in the second.

…I think for me it’s one of those vids that I’m going to have to see more of …I mean, it wasn’t complimentary exactly for Emma either…I do like nderstand that he might feel offended but saying that he needed distance when Sarah is trying to clear the air just feels childish…and maybe it makes what she said have more substance in that moment because he is acting quite aloof…

It's how he deals with things - he did the same with Hanah last week. When he feels upset about something he wants space to process it before facing it. Even with Nathan he seemed to come down from the mezzanine to speak to him, as though he was keeping out of the way for a bit.

Is it the best way of handling things? Arguable. But I can see why he does it.

I get it. Maybe it's my bias showing but, to me, she called him cold, aloof, narcissistic and superior. Even as a joke that's going to cut - especially as someone he's supposedly close to.

If you think it should have come across as a joke, also look at Ali and especially Hanah's reaction to it.

I understand it. Whilst it was a joke, the implication here is that he thinks he’s superior to everyone else as a result of his good looks, which I’ve not seen any evidence of.

It’s also not happening in a vacuum - the housemates have been constantly making little digs at him and I imagine this is just the final straw. The fact that it’s coming from Sarah probably means it hurts more, since they seem quite close. He looked taken aback like ‘I didn’t know you thought of me that way’.

Also the ‘in your ivory tower’ comment feels in very poor taste to say to a refugee whose homeland is undergoing a genocide. I know that might sound like I’m reading into it too much, but they all treat Khaled like he’s immensely privileged, which ignores the quite significant ways in which he’s not. Combine that with Nathan’s comment about how often he speaks about Palestine/Lebanon, and I think this could be another reason the comment rubbed him the wrong way. I get the impression he probably feels misunderstood by a lot of his housemates.

Sarah obviously didn’t mean it seriously, but I can see why it upset him.
