DTC would bring back Pam and Les too

I miss his era, it wasn't perfect but it was never dull

I am big fan of this new era mainly because the storylines run together where DTC would run them weeks at a time then forget them and pick them up again

That scene I do remember.

Cindy's post-natal depression storyline could have been great if they'd done it properly and perhaps after the Lucy storyline had died down a bit. DTC had some great ideas, but when it came to actually putting pen to paper, he was completely clueless.

Yeah this is what I mean. He handled certain storylines (Lee's depression springs to mind) awfully because of how quickly they seemed to disappear and be forgotten about.

Yeah SOC never sets up major plots but opts to focus entire episodes on the mundane.

Denise has countless threads on the go and we get episodes devoted to her library books and noisy neighbours.

Half of Phil's family died in the last 12 months but he moans about Tony and then goes on holiday.

There was a major bus crash in the Square, the episode after people were mortified at Sylvie's racially insensitive dancing in the Vic.

I prefer DTC's storylines like the pointless Gavin mansion chase to the boring stuff we get now. At least I was gripped, even if it was a colossal mess.

The only reason DTC is highly rated is because the last 2 before him were terrible

I think he was very ADHD. Had many ideas but not the patience to see them through. Like he did great with the Lucy plot and then mucked it up following the reveal and the eagerness to move from one thing to another and things like Lee's depression were sparks of great ideas but then abandoned to move onto the next thing and the next thing... and the next thing.

Gavin holding the entire cast hostage with a flip lighter whilst Kathy doesn't think to blow it out?

Like you ever watched it in the 80s.

It's also nothing like it. The 80s was a very different time for the world and television. It also had it's iconic and original plot lines that made the show what it was and went down in TV history. Those bubbling alongside the quiet stuff and the realism made EE the huge success it was.

This time, we have...... none of that.

I have seen the episodes on youtube and it is very similar for the simply fact a man handing his wife divorce papers is the most watch show in british history how more simply could you get.

It was also very realistic such as the Cot Death storyline or Den being Michelle's lover

There was something great about the early SOC episodes, but since then it's been bloody awful

Almost as if a panic button was pressed and it's all become an even bigger mess than what he took over
