He's 13 though. How does it count as accepting him if he was banned until he was the right age?

The other forum I go on is struggling to keep up with server costs and is trying to force people to subscribe by making avatars over 100x100 and signatures premium features

I think the point Jesus made should be addressed a little more.

Can we as a forum be assured that if ever a dispute arises between a 'V.I.P' and a 'regular member' that there will be no vested interest in trying to keep the paying members sated at the expense of the rest?

Like I said if you decide to implement the system I won't lost any sleep over it I am just one of many and I will still use the forum but I will voice concerns that funnily enough a fair few other members seem to share.

I don't see how that would happen. Everyone knows the rules. If you break them continuously then you get banned. People get warnings before a ban is put in place. If you're stupid enough to ignore the warnings then it's your own doing.

Infractions are private. If you see a paid up member break the rules nobody will be any the wiser if they have been punished or not unless they are outright banned or they get taken over the limit. It would be in the interest of the forum to do what they can to make sure they can keep people that pay on board unless they have no choice.

And I've gotten away with breaking the rules on occasion. I called someone a clown a few months back on a thread and never even got a warning never mind a ban. I would like to think that the reason was nobody saw it but it was a pretty active thread. I've said less than that to some of the more 'popular' members of the forum and being infracted within mere minutes in the past.

To be clear, I don't think it's plausible that any dispute involving a vip vs non-paying would be decided by the benjamins.

I won't pay extra, but if people want to pay for some extra features then there's no reason to have a problem with that, I suppose.

You'll also have the potential conflict of interest when it comes to giving long bans to paying members, which could cause more hassle than it's worth. The site is either full of "which fm do you love most" in a variety of different disguises, or "which flawless pop bitch is going to slay/shade another fierce pop bitch with a black person picture", so charge away, but the fundamental issue here, as always, is going to be attracting and keeping new members.
There was google advertising on the forum that I guess helped a little towards costs, that's not been active for quite a while now and that's the only monetary source that's been on the forum, you don't have to believe it but it's true.

Also regarding the issues with bannings/warning etc, members that made a donation wouldn't be treated any differently from someone that hadn't, if someone breaks a forum rule then they get dealt with.. not sure why anyone would think paying a a few pence donation would change that, donations are optional, no one forces people to pay them.

The fact that the site is actively for sale probably acts as a motivating factor to keep it going.

I also wasn't insinuating that you would treat people differently because they were paying members, as I clarified in a later post. My point was, that if you have some of the younger members that pay, but then end up with 6 month bans, then you could have parents on your case and all sorts.

Oh I know, that second part of my post wasn't aimed at you specifically but answering all that had posted those concerns.

Maybe there would be some kind of terms wrote up that would have to be agreed to but like mentioned a few times in the thread everyone is just posting opinions and suggestions atm and nothing is set in stone about a premium feature going ahead.

Jeez you would think certain people that disagree with this suggestion were deliberately trying to get the thread closed.

Any more off topic posts and that includes random gifs that add nothing to this discussion will be deleted and the poster infracted, I have posted enough warnings.
