...I loved WaterBoy actually...and 50 First Dates was very watchable...oh, Big Daddy as well...and Little Nicky and Happy Gilmore......his movies were okay for what they were ...but because they didn’t become anything different, anything more..?..they stopped being as okay, I guess...just same-ish and not funny anymore...like if you compared Adam Sandler to Jim Carrey for instance...?...Jim Carrey grew and matured and Adam Sandler didn’t so much so he had an expiry on his shelf life more than Jim...

Yeah - Hubie Halloween could easily have been made in the 90's . That might be what makes it watchable though? It has a sort of borderline-offensive simplicity about it, it doesn't try to be anything that it isn't. Most films these days try a little too hard to be uniqur/quirky/clever. This just embraces being really dumb. Really, really dumb.

...Disappearance at Clifton Hill......I’m not sure if it was classed as a ‘horror’ or mystery thriller, I didn’t get any thriller from it but lots of mystery..it was a complete unknown cast to me and felt quite ‘low budget’ but that just added to it and to the depth of the story...it gave just the right ominous feel throughout, I thought..it really did give that fairground feel of ‘smoke and mirrors’...7/10...

Your Name - Not really my favourite type of Film but this Film is a lot better than I was expecting considering the west's versions of this type of story are things like Twilight. Unlike the west's efforts at this type of story Your Name actually has a plot that is a big component of the Film that also brings the Romance component into the main story and not invading what should be the main story of the Film (like what happens in things like The Hunger Games imo) the characters are likeable and interesting.

Overall it's quite a well made Film, the only thing that I'd knock personally is the ending but I won't spoil that for anyone that's interested in watching the Film. 8/10

His House - 8/10

Spoiler:

I was expecting a horror which it kind of was but I think the witch and the ghosts weren't really real and it was a manifestation of the couples PTSD and guilt and trying to let go of that or learn to live with it and try to get on with their lives. I thought it was a very hard hitting and interesting way to approach the subject of refugees, what they dealt with in the past and the new challenges they face in a "safe" country. I also thought how they dealt with English people and how they interacted was probably quite accurate and captured the uncomfortable-ness very well

...His House, also....I won’t say much about it, there were quite a few jumps....and it was very, very thought provoking ...I’ll say 9/10...not a film that I would say I enjoyed as such but one that was totally worth the watch...

I watched the double bill of Halloween I & II last night (the originals).

Always a treat, especially the first one. Still remains a horror classic. One of my faves!

8/10 for the pair. I is far, far better than II though - I feel like in II they focused too much on violence and “shock” whereas there was something more intriguing and somewhat “innocent” about the first.

It's great, isn't it?

Have you seen the new sequel from a couple of years ago? Also called "Halloween" - the beginning of a new, "ending" trilogy with Jamie Lee Curtis. It was very good.

The second instalment "Halloween Kills" should have been out this year but got pushed back due to the pandemic, so will be out next October.

The third and final movie will be called "Halloween Ends", out October 2022.

I like them all, but the first own is my favourite. Because the atmosphere is amazing. Watch it alone in the dark and its terrifying.

...Justine...Netflix really do have some wonderful gem movies and this is definitely one...it’s incredibly sad but incredibly touching as well../...the relationship between Justine and her carer, Lisa...and how they’re isolated within themselves for very different reasons but how they connect to breathe life into each other...Stephanie Turner and Daisy Prescott are perfectly cast as Lisa and Justine ....as is Glynn Turman as Papa Don......

....a really beautiful and touching 8.5/10...

Above all else what I liked about this film is how it humanised a topic that often seems very dehumanised. I hope a lot of people will watch it

...Elvis And Anabelle....I guess, an alternate Sleeping Beauty that felt a little dark and even a little whimsical in places...the two lead actors lifted it into something quite lovely and such a touching watch...7.5/10.......
