The episode itself was fine, but what was with the crap popsong they played toward the end, and then over the credits? The new composer sucks, I can't even remember any of the episodes' scores...

So glad they managed to do this episode well, was pretty worried about it before hand. |

I actually learnt so much that episode. I had no idea Rosa knew MLK, I didn’t know she was married to a white man and I didn’t have a clue that she was still around in 1999 to receive that award

The crap pop song, I'm led to believe, is one of the songs used by the Black Lives Matter campaign.

She was an associate of Dr King, who preached for nonviolence, so they'd probably both be against BLM anyway.

BLM isn't violent, as ever it's the white people on Fox News that focus on extremes to tar a whole movement because they are scared of black people. Most BLM protests are peaceful and you don't hear of them because the kind of media that often covers them want the protest to erupt into violence so they can do their 'look at these violent black people' sctick

"Out of place in Doctor Who" is a meaningless statement as its a show that completely changes its tone, genre and style from one week to the next. I, for one, am glad the show has remembered it's not just about space travel and fighting, but also about time travel. So getting an episode set in the past with the sci-fi/alien aspect toned right down is recapturing an aspect of Doctor Who we haven't seen in a while IMO. |

Bloody hell at the P word at 7:15
That was amazing though. So brave. I am loving this series so far.

I imagine some uncomfortable white people will write to Ofcom over it, but the reality is this episode is really educational and informative, people need to be woke and this was a cute way of doing it

Wow. That episode has well and truly brought a tear to my eye. Rosa was and is a champion for civil and human rights. May she rest in peace.

I loved that episode. Not many Doctor Who stories have made me cry
I loved the music actually. I don't mind if I feel it's justified and suits the scene.

That episide was incredible, one of my favourite ever, but they did NOT just play 'Rise Up' over one of the most incredible and inspirational moments in history

Repeats the tired phrase of 'The Doctor owns a time machine so she could just to back in time and save ha' whilst preparing for the flood of sci-fi nerds to tell me that its not that easy and changing history is dangerous

I'm only halfway through the ep but Ryan getting off the bus at nightime on his own to stalk Rosa is pretty dumb
And the fact that not one of them thought it would be a bad idea either I can't tell if his character is supposed to be stupid or if it's just the way the actor is playing him

Apparently the episode was rated the lowest out of any New Who episodes on IMDB...
...before the episode aired. Racists are pathetic. |

The episode was neat, probably my favourite of the season thus far, but I feel like Rosa's story was outshadowed slightly by the ridiculousness of the alien plotline? I would have liked to see Rosa playing a bigger role to better portray how sad it was to live in such horrid conditions.
I do think the writing this series has been fairly weak, though, which is a shame. The first two episodes were fairly forgettable in the grand scheme of things. Last edited by Ashley.; 21-10-2018 at 09:34 PM. |

The episode was a great educational piece and hopefully many many young children and adults will learn from it. It was so uncomfortable in places but shamefully true to life.
Great episode
