We don't really know the personal circumstances of those buying, if you are a family of 4 buying for 2 sets of elderly relatives 3 tins of beans and 2 pints of milk just isn't enough is it?
The advice is to limit the amount of time you spend in supermarkets ... so is the answer not to stock up when you are there?

Stock up of course. But clearing the shelves of bread and milk every single day. Who knew people consumed that much.

Here he is with his emoji wisdom...it's not always the same people, just in that one example it was and again we don't know the circumstances.
There have been a lot of community groups started to help the vulnerable, a neighbour may be shopping for those in the community?

I was making comment on what I've seen, nothing more. Not suggesting to be wise or all knowing.

Not sure a snipe about "wisdom" was needed but if it makes you feel clever go for it. Your opinion is the only one allowed. Bore off.

Roll your eyes all you want , the fact is we don't know the personal circumstances of other shoppers so getting all judgy as to what others buy is unfair.

Went to 5 different shops today and the shelves in all of them were either half empty or completely empty. No milk, no eggs, no bread, little to no meat. It’s absolutely ridiculous, even the crisp aisle in Tesco was practically half empty and of course no toilet roll but thankfully I managed to get some on Tuesday. There are no words for how greedy and selfish people are, it’s vile.

Went to Lidl, it was carnage! People were clearing the shelves! Managed to get most of what I wanted.
But no eggs or toilet paper.

Yeah, it was a struggle but we managed to get most of what we needed but we couldn’t find any eggs at all or any antibacterial wipes for the kitchen so we’ll have to just use spray and sponges which isn’t too bad but we prefer wipes, the medicine aisle in Wilko was ridiculously empty.

Just been to Tesco. No milk or bread (6 horrid full of seeds brown only). toothpaste and mouthwash starting to go. No dog food save the very expensive stuff.

I think we are going to have to be rationed and given coupons as people cannot be trusted

Hang on, haven't you since the beginning of this thread been bragging about stockpiling?.. So who can't be trusted?

not me, i have bought a few extra tins of chilli and curry and corned beef and meat paste but thats about it. The TL has stockpiled tins mainly. but we both have not stockpiled milk, bread, dog food etc. as we dont have the freezer space

Because the TL was due to be away for 5 weeks in Asia in June she had already bought dog food online for that duration for her mutts prior

and in a specific thread about panic buying, i dont think posting about panic buying is "bragging" You sound pressed because you have missed the boat?

Not at all I have a few staples as I've stated in threads prior, but as I said to kaz earlier today it seems to be the people who are or have stockpiled who are now complaining of panic buying. Is it a case of ' im alright jack'?

there is a distinction between doing a few extra shops to fill up your cupboards and fighting in the aisles for bog roll or buying 20 loaves in 2 trolleys in one go

below is panic buying

I didn't stockpile I bought two extra packets of pasta, tea and stuff rather than the one extra that I would normally buy, I haven't got 20 pks to pasta stashed and I haven't bought anything extra since I did that 3 weeks ago, just shopping normally minus the pasta and eggs and TR

I think a lot of the shortages are down to people buying things they wouldn't normally buy, like paracetomol, most people would only buy it when they needed it, now they are laying it in just in case

The way I see it lots of people have a limited amount of money to spend on food but the people filling trolliesbday in and day out are greedy pigs with money.

the panic buying must tail off at some point because people simply wont have room to squirrel any more away.

I heard one store had refilled their shelves 10 times in a day, and it was still cleared.
