Biden isn't as quick-witted as Trump, so in a debate Trump could look "stronger".


By quick-witted I'm not placing judgement on either of their actual wits or intellect, but Trump will be quicker at saying something vaguely relevant to the question, however nonsensical.

Both sides of the story are worth highlighting - the Dems' behaviour does open them up to accusations of "importing voters", and the Republicans could be seen as kicking the can, so the issue is something they can use in the general election.
