I still think it'll all happen. No offence to Stephen, but it isn't so much of a tragedy that a whole show has to be cancelled. They still have an hour to fill regardless. Alexandra has been in rehearsals all week and I don't think they'd cancel that. Aside from Louis, he has no relevance to the XF so it won't be needed.

I know Louis will be upset and all but this seems a bit extreme to me to do all this...

Oh I get it now. Normally for the results the judges are usually introduced with their contestants. If Louis isn't there, then it won't be fair on the groups if they're all stood there like lemons coming out themselves whereas the other contestants will all have their mentors. It will probably look better on screen and less awkward if its Simon, Dannii and Cheryl at the table with all the contestants on stage on their own. I suppose it rules out deadlock though which can only be a good thing

The "music thing" is only the start of the show nothing more..

When the show starts the 3 judges will already be sat down and Simon will say few words, then its back to normal..

sad as it is, they can **** off if they're thinking of cancelling the Alexandra/Robbie performances.

The public are very fickle and with an X Factor winner and someone as big as Robbie, there will be about 10m disappointed people and as we've seen with BB the public are very fickle ... SCD could see a huge surge next week if it happens

Okay it's sad and all but the X factor wouldn't derail itself for STEPHEN GATELY, he was hardly a musical juggernaut when he was alive just because he is dead doesn't mean he should become one. The guests will perform as there'll be advertising contracts in place and such. they probably meant no OTT opening music and such. How would they fill an hour without any performances?

He was a bit of a laughing stock anyway, 1 for being in a 90s boyband and 2 for his stint on Dancing on Ice

Robbie & Alexandra WILL perform

People have bought tickets especially because those two are performing, X Factor cant just turn around and say "Oh sorry, Stephen Gately has died, no guests! soz! LOL!" not to mention Robbie and Alexandra have taken time out to do this

Of course they'll perform. Very sad though... seemed like a very decent human being from any interviews I've seen him on.

I think she meant that they wont have the big dramatic music at the start of the show. I think once Simon's spoken, the show will try and carry on as normal.

I dont think it was ever planned to cancel any performances.just speculation on that.
All that'll happen is Simon will say a few words before the titles and then the show will carry on as mormal.

as sad as his death his no need to derail the whole show both robbie and alexandra will perfom as for the robbie was gonna do a boyzone song i highly doubt it given him being there is all about his comeback with his new single the reason both him and alexandra are there is cos they both fighting for number 1 today
this goes back to with jade and people saying bb should be canceled or do some huge tribute but all that is needed is a few words of condolence

I'm sorry but even going without the big dramatic pre-title sequence and opening introduction with Dermot + Judge's is a step too far. All that needs to be done is Simon/Dermot to say a few words about it and to why Louis is not there either before the pre-title sequence or after the opening introduction and then the show can continue as normal.

Why they need to make such a big fuss when tbh, apart from Louis, he had no connection with the show, is beyond me.
