You would definately want to be with someone more than 6 months before deciding to marry them imo. I was with my husband 4 years before we got married

That's a good point actually but I guess for a lot of people having money and the time etc. to plan the wedding are factors too

agreed.

standing in front of all the people you love and care for and making a public and legally binding commitment is the best thing you can do to ensure the longevity of a relationship.

WTF? I agree with you for a change. It's like shopping. I don't stand around scratching my chin for half an hour looking at stripy cardigans. If I want it, I know straight away and I will buy said Stripy cardigan and wear the **** out of it.

I guess that is up to the woman in question - whether she prefers to be called - wife or partner. Not for some male judge to say!

You might, but 16 year olds engaged these days seem to be on the rise. It's ridiculous.

Don't you have to be 18 to get married? That's too young as well though

That is why I said engaged lol but they can marry with consent at 16 in the UK and can just marry at 16 in Scotland. But being tied down so young is stupid, especially with today's youth, shagging about all over the place.

I don't care about people getting married too early, because the only thing they're messing with is themselves. Whereas teenage pregnancy is bringing another life into the mess.

That being said, I think very few ARE ready for marriage at a young age (as in, 18... not 16) - but too many people see marriage as a way to save a flagging relationship.

I'm quite traditional with marriage, I think the vows SHOULD mean something, and it should be for life (though this is quite simplistic).

True but marrige and teenage pregnancy seem to go hand in hand these days.

I totally agree with you. Marriege means alot to me, I wouldn't have gotten married unless I was 100% sure about it.

I disagree. I think teenage pregnancy comes hand in hand with irresponsible flings/short term relationships. I can't imagine many of the 14 year old chavvy guys trying to spread their seed have a chat up line of marriage lol.

I've only ever known one couple get married when still teenagers, and they were both responsible and ready for it and are still together now. So maybe I'm biased from experience!

Guess i'm talking about most of the chavs and what I meant to say is they get engaged and pretty much goes on and off from there. But people seem to declare love a lot younger these days.
