Yeah, they are more fussy and reactive when it comes to illnesses. Maternal instincts. We just sit around and have another pint to numb the pain!

Most men live their lives in a state of denial, that's what it is.

Women are better at facing problems head on and doing what needs to be done.

Traditionally and sterotypically being ill is like being weak, just like showing emotion is being weak, men are stereotypically supposed to be strong, brave and not supposed to cry. Its all changed now, you dont need to be macho all the time.
But they want to be, so we want to be in control.

Women are just naturally more in touch with their bodies. You have periods early on which almost forces you to be. And your bodies are also baby making machines so you have a natural instinct to take care of it more.

Then there is the male ego. Again, they are instinctively more macho and prone to not admitting weakness. Plus they dont want their bits groped and anus probed by strangers. Well, not for medical reasons anyhow. *wink*

But the reasons are mostly primal, instinctive and down to good ole Mother nature. You can pretty much blame her for every bad trait in men. Im sure you agree, Wombai?

The famous 'nature/nuture' debate! It is a bit of both - but mother nature only plays a small part - the rest is down to good old ego!

Girls always go to the doctors when they have a little problem..

I was taken to the doctors as a child when i was 3.

I was made to go doctors at age 11 when i had an ear infection on holiday.

And i get hayfever tablets from doctors most years.

But other than that ive never been..
Ive been in pain but never thought to go doctors.

Your'e young without many health problems! Hope if and when they develop you have enough sense to go get things checked out!

Girls/women in general are more aware of the consequences of health problems, whilst in general more boys/men are more inclined to turn a blind eye, hoping symptoms will go away.

Women in general are not just 'hypochondriacs' as you are implying! From experience, and generally accepted as common knowledge - men are more likely to be 'demanding' and divaish when ill! In other words - they make more of a fuss about being ill!

But we don't clutter up the NHS and waste doctors precious time. Thats the important difference. Some of you women go to the doctors when you ladder your tights!

But what you don't seem to realise is that by going to the doctors and sorting any problems at an early stage saves lots of money, and doctors' precious time, in the long-run!

Many serious conditions are preventable by early intervention - and if a person ignores the early warning signs and becomes really ill - that costs not only the NHS and the taxpayer a lot more money - it could also cost that person their life. Lecture over!

LOL Zipster, I've never been to the GP in the last 5 years............last time I phoned for appointment with a flu thing that was getting me down and not clearing-up, they said "we can give you an appointment in 3 weeks time, Tuesday or Wednesday?"

Aye don't bother thought me, I'll either be dead by then and have my Clinical Oncology appointment in 2 weeks where they X-Ray and CT scan everything anyway.

Lack of access to NHS puts a lot of guys off - until you're in you're out if that makes sense.
