Hey housemate, what's your problem? Dave hasn't broken any laws or hurt anyone. Your avatar and sig is probably a copyrighted image, so therefore you have broken the law by using it, you've crossed the line, omg, CRIMINALLLLLLLLL!!!. Obviously that's ridiculous but please, pretty please, wind your neck in.

And yet, a lot of them quote Googled verses and commandments that just end up making them look shallow and ignorant.

Dave may have crossed a line. However, who are we to say what that line is? All religions have aspects that "cross the line". Something that seems to throw the Anti-Dave Lobby into a particular frenzy is the healing thing. I'm not saying I particularly agree with it but I don't think it is a malicious act. Lourdes is a place of pilgrimage and MASSIVE money-spinner for the Catholics and thousands of people come away from there every year feeling like it's done them some good. I don't see that as evil, or as preying on the sick.

I wasn't really directing the "witch hunt" term at you even though I was answering your post. Although I don't always agree with what you say, you do think about what you're saying and can discuss intelligently whatever point's being made. Not everyone does.
'...discuss intelligently whatever point's being made. Not everyone does.'

True, this can be said about both camps though..
one of Daves fans recently told me (after several graphic obscenities) that he hopes I die Young .. another seemed to enjoy, what she must have considered to be 'enjoyable banter' which only resulted in killing any form of debate or learning about the issues raised in the thread, .. so frustrating!
I'm sure you have similar stories directed at you from the 'other' camp.
It doesn't alter the fact that Dave seems to be excused any and every wrong, my earlier post was directed more at his 'antics' etc.. within the house .. not the furore surrounding his 'real' life outside those walls.
I think that there are only two Dave fans/friends to date who are willing to be polite in response to my posts .. I've yet to hear any of 'them' call Dave out on anything though.

I haven't got a problem ..I'm in an open Forum discussing what I think is a ridiculous thing for a married Father/ Minister to have done.
You have a valid point about the avatar and sig, I'll deal with that later (soon) but on the other hand if you can show me where I have lied/back stabbed/been a hypocrite or taken part in 'fun' which has made me look like a desperate child trying to gain favour, you will have a solid base to accuse me from.

I saw the "die young" post. I was disgusted by it, for the record.

I don't see myself as being in any camp. I don't particularly want Dave to win, and I don't feel so strongly that I want to vote for him to go. And I know that there are people on both sides of the argument who make themselves look like raving lunatics. I'm not excusing either side.

I still think the overreaction to Dave has been excessive.

We can agree to differ. Because we're grown ups.

"I still think the overreaction to Dave has been excessive.

I respect what you say and even agree with you to a (small) degree re Dave.
I also still think that admitting that (any) HM deserves criticism where earned is a valid point too .. this 'rule' just doesn't seem to apply to Dave.
I'm not in any 'camp' per se either, I form my own opinions and have commended Dave when I thought he was in the right about a particular thing.

Sorry to but in - but, the reality is, there's a bunch of Dave haters who will use any excuse to have a dig at him. If he does a prank with Sam, then they'll bash him, but if he'd not done a prank and reacted like Steve, the same posse would of bashed him for being a bore - killjoy. Dave can do NO right in these these people's eyes, and the sad reality, as has been posted on numerous occasions is that - it is because he is religious. He can not do anything right because he is religious.

Hi,
thats right, I have seen that but I've also seen that applied to other HMs, Dave isn't singled out solely because of his religion

However he choose to enter as a Minister which was immediately going to put him under greater scrutiny (he didn't realise that?).. he overtly reads the Gospels every day, this also serves to portray him as a man of convictions etc.. etc .. when he is then seen to contradict the image/label he has created ... he is naturally going to be subject to derision and labelled a hypocrite.
I'm disgusted with some of the comments which have been made about all HMs ... just take a look at Josies 'log' .... it sinks way beneath decency no matter how disliked she is ... or Corin ... infact any of them, not just Dave.

I agree! People have some very narrow-minded ideas about how religious people should behave and/or how they should practice their religious beliefs - as if the way one worships God is written in stone!

And many doing that - are not religious at all - have no idea what they are talking about - but still have some bizarre notion that - to be truly religious you must follow certain rules - and basically behave like a saint! Just nonsense!

I'm sorry, but you cant say that Dave is being exempt from criticism on here. On the contrary, it seems to me that people seek every oppurtunity to insult him, and the furor surrounding most of his actions is excessive to say the least. Take the hunting thing, he's not really doing anything wrong, he's commiting to crime, yet the thread title read "Dave is a murderer", what a load of sensationalist crap.

I'm not saying this applies to you but there seems to be a hwole campaign going on to turn him into a public hate figure. Videos being posted daily, threads cropping up calling him a "liar", "murderer" etc. some of the things that have been said about him have been out of order if you ask me.

My point was that he is exempt from any wrong doing at all from his fans/friends ... I agree (see above posts) that many posts and threads have been cruel and unfair .. this is so for all HMs, not just Dave .... all I'm asking is that when Dave is wrong, he shouldn't be blindly supported ... this though has been, and continues to be, the trend .. to date.

Hilarious ... !!
BTW Mario didn't throw the food around he was 'only' involved with the grease proof paper 'jinx' ... and no, I'm not sticking up for Mario (who I don't like either) or Sam, they are both idiots too.
Dave is however a Father and Minister .. presumably this alone should compel him to be a tad less infantile.

I wonder what his reaction would be if he came home from his hard day of preaching crap and found his house in the state he left the BB house? I bet he wouldn't have been very please.

Very true! Because people don't understand the passionate and bizarre way he practices his beliefs - people ridicule him and try to suggest he is either a nutter or a conman! People fear what they don't understand or the unfamiliar - which says more about them than him!

They harp on about how he needs investigating with absolutely no evidence to validate such comments. The wheelchair video, in particular, had people accusing him of all sorts, putting words in his mouth, whilst being completely unable to produce any evidence to back up their wild allegations!

Friends of Dave have explained why the wheelchair was used - quite logical, feasible explanations - but people conveniently ignore them - because they are simply biased against the man because of his religious beliefs!

I like Dave, I find him easy-going, friendly, funny and entertaining. I don't care about how he practices his religious beliefs - unless it is proved that he has been dishonest in his practice!

People need to lighten up - and take him for the funny man he is - and stop looking for reasons to hate him - because they find him rather odd!

Well, whether his actions are right or wrong is entirely subjective. A lot of people though it was wrong of him to do a belly flop in the puddle; I thought it was hilarious. A lot of people think it's wrong that he hunts; I think he's not breaking any law, and hunting can sometimes be neccesary. A lot of people think it's wrong that he claims God heals; I would point out that he's no different to most preachers, they all believe God can heal.

There's also the fact that many Dave fans, myself included, feel he is being unjustly treated by many on this forum, and this is perhaps why they are more indignant when it comes to Dave's faults, becasue I will admit he does have some, everyone does. Similarly I feel that peoples opinion of him has been influenced so much by those youtube videos that everything he does is scrutunised so as to use it against him, and when he does do something positive it is ignored. During the prediciton task, Dave was the voice of reason a lot of the times, when he pointed out John James hypocrisy for instance, and this is something I've often seem from him, but it tends to go unacknowledged, as do most of his more commendable actions

I agree. People should just learn to live and let live, and stop getting so hung up over his beliefs. I dont agree with getting drunk on God, but I'm not going to judge him on it. From what I've seen he hasnt tried to shove his beliefs down the other housemates throats, and everyone needs to stop defining him by his religioun. Dave is friendly, funny, perceptive and wise, and he seems to be a good family man, but it seems that people are reluctant to acknowledge this, and only care about the fact that they dont understand his religous perspective.

That's true, not solely but unfortunately happens a lot.

But it's not his choice to be daily bashed on a forum by a witchhunt posse of haters. I (and other's), merely make a few comments to try and address the fact that people are being unreasonable and attempting to blow a lot of things that he does or says in the house out of proportion because they have an unrealistic expectation of what and how a "religious" person should act and behave. BUT then, i (and other's), get jumped on as being some "nutjob" cult fan or friend, of which i am neither.

So, do you have a belief that any religious person - never lies, cheats, steals nor ever does anything wrong?

I agree, it's a shame.
