Having a talent for provoking controversy may well get you far. Look at Jedward. I actually think she is talented though.

Probably because she went to pieces in the final audition and Gamu didn't. But I am with you Stevep, she has a different voice (so has Cher) and Cheryl was right to take the risk on both. She does need to find the right song.

Exactly, is it always essential that a ballad singer should win the show? The X factor is not meant to be all about the voice, its the voice, the performance, the drama and everything else in your character that goes with the voice. The X factor is suppose to represent someting unique and Katie certainly is unique both in her voice and her character.

Take Joe Mceldry(sp?) for example, top singer no doubt about it, does he have a future in the industry? No, not imo, too bland, too nice, would fit in nicely at the west end.

Not saying the character side of a contestant should come up trumps over the voice, not saying Katie should win it because shes a bit kookie (tbh not made my mind up on who should win yet), the voice should first and foremost always be the most important trait in one of the singers, just saying its not all about the voice its the whole package and she most certainly is interesting aswell as a decent singer.

I hated her from the begining but i'm embarassed to admit that she's growing on me.
