The girl who plays Fiona is great

Ohhhh right, I thought in the first one in the UK version he sent him to France because he hit either Ian or Lip, don't think that happened in the American one

Oh do shut up you imbecile. Why do you ceaselessly go on these pointless rants when they have absoloutely no merit? You have not seen the U.S. version. Who are you to judge? Statistically we have probably nicked more from American television than they have from us. I'm sure people have told you that dozens of times before too but here you are helplessly going off on one yet again.

For the record I think it's fantastic. It's not as good as the first few UK seasons but it's much better than the current crap Paul Abbott is content with putting out over here. The storylines are the same but it's a much warmer, realistic, more drama orientated show with more of a traditional production style than Shameless UK's stripped down, fly on the wall comedy approach. It takes longer to get into but I would heartily reccomend it.

William H. Macy, Jeremy Allen White and Emmy Rossum all put in great performances and are incredibly likeable. And Liam is black.

I can't say whether I liked it or not because the plot was just a remake of the first UK episode. I think William H Macy's a good actor but in my mind I don't like his Frank atm because I keep comparing him to David Threlfall and it sounded pretty forced in the opening titles when he said "We know how to throw a ******IN' party!" as if it's just an excuse for American actors to swear on TV.

I've liked Joan Cusack since Addams Family Values and Justin Chatwin in the Weeds pilot so was pleasantly surprised they were in it as I didn't know that. The US Sheila isn't as hysterical as the UK one (and I love the UK one!) so I'll have to watch to see if this changes but I thought Justin Chatwin was a great Steve! Tbh I really don't like James McAvoy because he pretty much plays the same sort of roles in everything he's in. US Fiona was pretty good.

Just a few transitions I didn't really like were making baby Liam black because I didn't see the point in it and it kinda makes the fact Ian reminds Frank of his mum and having a different biological father redundant. Didn't mind the black Veronica but again didn't really see the point of it when it still had Kash and his kids (both boys?) to represent the ethnicity.

Lastly, I don't think it handled the swapping between drama and comedy too well. While the UK one sways in and out of it quite well and still has a bit of a depressing sombre overtone the US one was either just depressing or had that badly executed scene with Karen under the table. When Lip jumped out the window that CGI made me cringe.

Spoiler:

Ian's father turns out to be Franks brother in this and Liam turns out to be Franks son to everyone's surprise, but maybe i am giving to much away.

Just a bit.

I wonder if some of the other UK characters will show up like the Maguires and Kelly or if the current cast will leave like how Steve and Fiona left after series 2 and how the Gallaghers have all gradually left

Spoiler:

I wont be surprised if singer songwriter Emmy Rossum gets a chance to show off her singing voice at some stage on Shameless. They are hardly going to have this girl in the show who was once a child star with the New York Opera and performed with Luciano Pavarotti and Placido Domingo and not make use of it for new storylines in the show

Very spoilery.

Spoiler:

It just sounds like the plot of the UK seconds series when Steve went on the run and Fiona had a relationship with Craig. Ok, so this time it's a woman but it's essentially the same story atm with just a couple of differences.

Can a certain person please use common sense and put spoilers in a spoiler tag or just not post them?

This is a discussion thread for the UK pace for goodness sake.

Not a bad episode again tonight. Think I'm still loving Fiona most. The American Frank doesn't quite have the charisma our one does
