Oh, no! Just when I start to like you, too!

On a more serious note, I'm really sorry to hear about that. I recommend you see a doctor about it. Get better soon. Don't over-work yourself. Stay home.

Thanks !

You missed half the thread !!! Docs done and dusted. Starting to feel much better - wish I'd gone sooner tbh, but hey: that's what I get for putting it off and putting work first. Hey ho and all that.

Cool! I'm glad to hear you feel better. I'd still recommend you stay off work for a few weeks or so; it isn't good to overwork your body just after you start to feel better. Take a holiday at home. You don't want to get ill again!

Hey Mid I thought Tramdol was muscle relaxant. I also think an anti inflammtory is better. I have had pain with the illness I have, nurofen is good also sometimes you may need to take water tablets to disperse the build up of ****e. Also have you had steroids they open the air ways so you can breathe, I suppose you know all this just trying to help.

As per email sent: got Prednislone, Tramadol, Montelukast, Amoxicillan and for good measure Tiotripium inhaler. No half measures here... good doctor made sure she gave me enough. it's a flipping exercise in itself working out what time I to take what tablets next.

Ah Mids, hope you feel better soon. I've a confession to make, had given up the smokes for ten years and went back on them about four weeks ago. Stress. Well that's my excuse You've definitely given me food for thought tonight. Hope it clears up soon - stay warm and will someone shoot me if I recommend a hot whiskey?

Joins tmi in this toward Patsy. Oh Pats...that's such an amazing acheivement, but I can't reprimand you - given my own current state.

I wish you luck to ditch the sticks though: hopefully it's just a wee temporary blip in your time of duress.

I got some huge pink chalky like tablets from someone when I had really bad toothache. The pain was gone pretty much instantly and I felt floaty all day. No idea what they were called though but ya get them from the docs.

And whats pleurisy? Sounds nasty

Would they have been Brufen tablets by chance? Very large round pills - not quite the size of gobstoppers, but not far off it!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pleurisy

Pleurisy - inflammation of the lungs where the the inner lining swells, rubs together and

Im not too sure. All I know is they are the only painkillers that have ever worked for me. Codeine make not the slightest bit of difference...they gave me them for migraines and they are meant to be good :/

So I now need to find some way of asking my doc what they are, without telling him I was taking someone elses perscription...he goes down my neck for taking stuff he hasnt perscribed for me

See.. codeine works wonders on the pain front for me: but problem is: I vomit them up about 40 mins after taking them and come out in a rash - so whilst it would sort out my pain: if I had to vomit, I honsetly think the pain would totally overwhelm me, seriously.

Brufen, when it first came out, was a large perfectly round bright pink pill. You can now get it in caplet form (ie; like a pink Hedex shape). They are very strong. You could say to the doc that you were at a friends house and that was the only pain killers she had, and you found it to be effective ...and you were wondering if he could prescribe?

Perfect. Cheers

I honestly couldnt believe how effective it was. IIRC the person who gave me them had been perscribed them for kidney stones, so I should have guessed they would work well really

Pyramid, I am very sad to hear you are ill, I would imagine it is extremely painful, all I can say is I hope you are better soon. Please take care of yourself and I am thinking of you.

Awh, thanks Joey, that's a lovely thing to say.

Playing on tibbs tonight has actually helped take my mind off it a wee bit and I'm managing to sit in a very bizarre but 'reasonably' comfy positon (sort of like a right handed type of Hunchback of Notre Dame). (with the same grimace on my face though).

I'm reading this after you made a post about people seeking attention when it comes to self-harm. I'm sure you are in a lot of pain, but surely posting about it on an internet forum, could be seen as just seeking attention and sympathy....by your own logic.

Hang me. I've been on the forum about 8 months and this is probably the first thread of any such nature. When I begin to do it every other week -then feel free to complain till your heart is content.

The difference is: self harming is exactly that. You might want to refer back the thread about self harming: and see thatI posted far more, far far more, than just hapless accusation and assumptions that those who do self harm, are purely only attention seekers: as you have suggeted here.

Pleurisy can arise through many reasons: not least a viral or bacterial infection (as well as other more serious underlying causes).

it that makes me an attention seeker: I guess you'll just have to live with it.

i wasn't calling you an attention seeker, as i made clear in my posts, i think anyone in pain deserves empathy/sympathy.
