Casual Viewers i.e. the ones who vote DON'T read forums so they are not influenced by the hysteria that is generated. The HL shows are what they see and what they base their decisions on.

I agree OP, at work we have a divide of support between Aaron and Alex. I asked at lunchtime who was voting, and all the Alex fans assumed she had enough to carry her to be the winner. Aaron fans however were phoning or Fbing their votes. Out of 47 people there was 2 Jay supporters, who didn't care to share their voting habit!

Some cruised the forums, and they were largely Aaron fans.
No Tom, or Loo supporters.

20 people claimed to have never watched the show.

It was an interesting BB lunch break!!

Not very representative but they DO believe that they can influence who wins!
