I'm not really sure how I feel about this..there are parents who completely mess it up, young parents, who will have many years to screw up their kids lives successfully and perhaps this woman can only give her children a fraction of those years..but those years may be an amazing foundation for their lives.
I don't know anything about her and I trust there was good reason why she was given IVF, based on her lifestyle, character, health etc...and she is a single parent so I don't know what other family suport there is.
..the impact on her chilren's lives when she dies will be huge, yes, and there is a good chance they will be at a 'vulnerable' age when that happens..but it happens with young parents too

It is pretty selfish though, she was doing it for herself not for kids that didn't and would never have existed, if she wanted to do some thing good for children she could have adopted an older child who would have really benefited from having a good home and would find it difficult to get one.

That's true but alot of those times it wasn't planned, where as she actually went and had treatment to get her pregnant. I know alot of people don't have ideal parents but this woman, no matter how fit and healthy she is now is very old to be having children and in all likelihood won't be around for very much of their lives, she knew this but did it anyway, which I think is a selfish choice to make.

It's not really the same subject at all, the big difference being she got treatment to make herself become pregnant when there's no possible way she would have become pregnant at her age otherwise. And I don't see how comparing this situation to one you consider worse, some how makes it alright. That's a bit like saying That guy killing his mother isn't that bad cos the guy down the road killed both his parents

Well, there's always something worse then everything else, it's not the end of the world no, but I think it was a selfish choice for her to make.

I'm presuming that she was 'vetted' and all circumstances were taken into consideration, her age being a huge factor, before being given IVF and this is not just a crazy expiriment. So long as that is the case, I think that life is better than no life and that there are circumstances around herself and her family unit that have led to this decision.

tbf to her, those kids don't have any other option, it's either be born to her, or not be born at all so I think it's ok.

The "chances are they'll be orphans in 10 years" point seems quite irrelevant to me. Maybe a pair of 20yo parents will be hit by a train a week after their firstborn is brought into the world. Maybe she'll live to be 90. Who gives a toss about 'chances', just give her one
