I've decided to re-read these books whilst travelling. I love the opening line to it all.

'The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed...'

IMO imagination is the most powerful manifestation of an intellectual mind and reading amazing fiction enables us to exercise our own imagination. I actually feel sorry for people who proudly declare "I've never read a book". Even the most amazing film adaptations are really just the culmination of someone else's imagination - I always prefer to read the book beforehand so as to approach it with my own thoughts, feelings and imagination first.

The Dark Tower series is amazing and engrossing. Another series worth reading are the five Riverworld novels by Philip Jose Farmer. Once read, never forgotten.

The first four books are amazing, but they go down hill a lot in the final ones. And the last book is pretty bad, and the ending. Well...

I think The Talisman was his best fantasy/horror book. I love Stephen King but prefer his pre 90's work. I know it sound bad but when he gave up the drink/drugs his writing for me went downhill..His last really good books were Four past midnight & Needful things. I love the Bachman books too

lol, yeah. It's probably bad to say, but King was a better writer high

I had no issue with the last three books. I loved the last one and the ending for me was fitting. I was never expecting a happy ending.

Glenn, the first book can be a bit hard going, but stick with it and start the second one straight after.

The worse thing is I have made that typo before.

I was hoping I had edited it before anyone saw. Nobody comes to this thread usually.
