How do you live in Europe and not know who Hitler is? It's sad how Becky said she "couldn't care less", when something like that is such a devastating and important part of human history. I can understand some people like to live in a fantasy world and live a life of escapism, but becky seemed to wallow and celebrate her own ignorance. maybe she just hasnt got any ability to express what she meant. can I add though there is an anti war group who are pacifists and believe we as a society overhype armies and wars and over celebrate them with endless parades and statues. I used to work with a French girl who was studying at University in Kent and she claimed many of the English students on her course had not heard of Hitler and had never heard of the Cold war. She thought it was pathetic and I agreed.

Also, my Uncle owns a swanky Hotel on the North coast of Jamaica and he claimed many of the English residents are among the least cultured people he has staying there. He said the kitchen staff regularly laugh their asses off at how ignorant the Brits are in particular using the wrong knife or fork during a meal

lets face it the english are considered probably the least sophisticated people in all of europe nowadays...a reputation well earned by football idiots (thankfully much better than it was) and packs of drunken aagressive english people chanting and threatening people all over the meditterranean...I went to stay in a mates villa on the algarve in portugal they wouldnt let any brits into the nightclubs because of our previous behaviour, I explained I was scottish not english and they let me in....same with truck drivers across europe you have to display a scottish or welsh or irish flag in order to be treated well, they hate the english

as I said earlier people should know these things, but in some ways its nice to see some innocence , but not to celebrate ignorance...I would argue that knowing about elvis and rock and roll is every bit as important as knowing baout that evil scum hitler....elvis was one of the first kings of rock and roll and brought the whole a new magical medium to share and celebrate music and life itself...Id say thats worth a damn sight more than some racist evil scum....the main lessons though are about the suffering and the discrimination against all sorts of peoples, the jews, the disabled, different races etc etc
we also need to be aware of the horrors going on nowadays all over the planet, the slave labour, the oppression, the starvation,the endless military dictatorships and despots , the worldwide banking corruption etc
what annoyed me more here wasnt what they didnt know but how they celebrated their ignorance and really didnt want to learn anything
