I doubt it was an attempt by BB to give Deana symptathy votes (if indeed they could control the "random" outcome), but more likely to stir things up between the members of the opposing faction members in the house. Anything to kick off an argument or some extra bitching helps them retain viewers, if a friendly group member's failure resulted in another friendly member not getting their letter there would just be a hug and a "that's ok" comment making the outcome dull.

I just have a feeling that the public who watch BB and also vote who have no connection to forums or websites as to BB are getting tired a bit of the victim situation as to Deana and also the sympathy card playing too.

but the thing is, I don't have sympathy for her? I had sympathy for her when Conor was basically threatening to beat her, but not for this. Deana will eventually get her letter in a day or so. I've NEVER seen a BB where a HM was left out when it came to letters from home. That said, I've never seen a HM leave the BB house without receiving that letter either. Just the usual BB hype and probably chose Deana picking up on various BB forums about her.

I could never understand the conspiracy theories that haunt the forums every year. Surely the producers couldn't care less who wins? They just want to make good tv, leading to higher ratings, leading to higher add revenue, and thus higher fees for them. Whoever wins will probably retreat back into obscurity. Even if they do manage to stay in the limelight, that's just publicity for the program. And there is no such thing as bad publicity.

The producers have enough to do to make good tv, do you really think they'd bother rigging the show? Would they really edit out entertaining stuff that a housemate did? Of course they wouldn't. Entertainment is the name of the game. But, they can't put it all in either. Can you imagine trying to edit a show for 14 odd characters without having a clue of what their arcs will be? I think they do a terrifc job when you consider the difficulties involved.

The reason Deana didn't get a letter is because it wasn't drawn out. The reaction they get from her, will probably end up being less dramatic than it would be from others. The reason Deana will probably handle it with grace and dignity, is because they are qualities which she values greatly. Not because the producers have spent seven weeks feverishly editing her to be something she isn't. And, if she does throw a dramatic strop - I can gaurantee you that we will see it.

No, her letter was never there to be drawn out. This isn't some conspiracy theory - every official statement from BB describing the task clearly states that because Ashleigh failed her task and lost a letter, only 9 letters were sent into the house. If they'd sent all 10, regardless of whose was last in the box, someone would've said damn the rules and grabbed it out anyway. There was no mechanism to physically prevent them from taking everything in the box out, and it was empty after the 9th letter was read.

What people are questioning is how "random" was BB's decision of which letter not to put in the box. You have to wonder, if it randomly did come up as Deana, would they have considered putting it in and pulling Sara or Scott's instead - someone that would be less controversial. Otherwise, random or not, it's giving both sides of the superfan wars ammunition - Conor fans say they did it deliberately to make her sympathetic, Deana fans say they did it deliberately to torture her more (and possibly give Conor a task later to win it for her, so he can come out looking like a hero).

Since there is no record of how the missing letter was physically removed from the stack, nothing is going to end that speculation.
