What if the human was wearing an "I hate Rhianna" T-shirt?

To be fair, that argument works both ways. The vast majority of humans have no problem/s with the killing and eating of animals, so I'm sure the same principle would apply here to many.

Saving your pet over somebody who could have children, parents, siblings, a wife/husband, and their whole life ahead them is in my opinion disgusting, disturbing and selfish

I do slightly agree with this, although the bond that some have with their pets is a very strong one, I know some who are closer to their pets than humans

I would still make that sacrifice though, I know it would be a hard one but in the end of the day it's the right thing to do. Humans have longer lives and have much more to live for so they're way more valuable

On yeah I would, was just saying I can see why some would have more of a problem doing it

It's a bit different when it hits closer to home though. If you were to substitute the animal for a close friend/family member, would you honestly rather save the stranger than those you know well?

It depends on the situation. Although I'd be going through so much pain, I also know what the strangers family and friends would be going through. If it boiled down to it though, I'd end up saving the person close to me.

for those who've fallen

But that pet could have children, parents, siblings, a mate and could have it's whole life ahead of it - why isn't killing that disturbing? And who's to judge what has more to live for anyway?
