I used to go to midnight mass but they stopped once the numbers got smaller and smaller.

A lot of the family tend to go in the evening on Christmas Eve with my nan.

..at my church they stopped midnight mass because of people coming out of the pub and going there...I think it became a bit to 'jolly' for them...

I think that is the case in a lot of places, Midnight mass now seems to be at 9pm or 10, I blame MTVN.

there is something quite nice about going for the midnight mass though, although that might just be because I was a kid and loved the thought of being awake at midnight for the first time in my life

Best that you didn't Smithy considering you're a worshipper of that She-Devil.

Nope. Why anyone desires to pack themselves into a cold building to listen to incredibly boring sermons on Christmas is beyond me.

No, because it's cold and boring, and Christmas!

Yes because the religious significance of Christmas really is why people celebrate it nowadays. For most people Christmas is just a day to give gifts more than it is about the birth of Christ.

For godssake, calm down.

It was a joke, as the origin/root of Christmas is religious. Lighten up.

Always used to go as a family to midnight mass when I was younger, it was pretty nice actually especially if when you left the Chapel it was all snowy and calm, felt really christmassy.

Don't ever really go to church or chapel at all now unless it's a funeral, wedding, christening etc.

I have to admit, in my younger years we'd stagger into our local abbey for the midnight service on Christmas Eve after being out all night. We always behaved ourselves though.

why u say , you have to admit? are you ashamed of the fact you went to Church ? does it make you feel uncool as you try to impress a bunch of strangers on a remote website? how very odd
