![]() This woman is actually giving me hope in getting a decent place this year! I think it's a good thing that nobody knows her, fresh talent is good. I agree with Reece, Geri does fit the calibre for Eurovision but theres hundreds of old artists that do. I'd rather see someone with an amazing voice that i've never seen or heard before compete for the UK and have an amazing experience doing so, rather than someone who has had a massive music career already. Cause lets face it the acts we have seen the last 3 years haven't done us any good!

eh, she has more of a chance than the "legends" we've been sending. Nobody knew who Jade Ewen was and she finished fifth. We've always had the chance to do well but we just need someone young and pretty, and with a good (if dull and ballady) song.

The thing with Jade Ewen though was that she toured Europe with that song in order to raise awareness of it, so people were already familiar with it and had time to like it. The UK rarely bothers to hype any of these acts up abroad; which is why we usually end up at the bottom. Nothing to do with politics; Britain's got one of the best music export markets in the world, people all over Europe love British music, the problem is that we send total dross and don't even try. I think it's because Eurovision rarely turns a profit for the host country and the UK can't be arsed with it. I'm sure we'll put in the effort when we need something international to come to the UK - but seeing as we've had the Olympics, the Commonwealth Games (upcoming) and all sorts of other international celebrations here in recent years, there's been no requirement for us to host Eurovision. That's what's political about Eurovision, not the voting.

Yeah I agree, we need to focus more on the promotional side of it (in Europe, that is, to be honest I think we're barely aware of our own entry let alone everyone else)

There's no point promoting it in the UK because we're not the ones who decide whether or not the song gets points. The reason neighbouring countries tend to vote for each other is that by proxy they're more aware of each other's popular singers, e.g. Jedward were popular in the UK. People will vote for songs if they like them. The UK never puts forward anything remotely interesting anymore.

Like what was the logic in sending a young guy to Eurovision with a song penned by Pete Waterman? Do you know what happened the last time Pete Waterman thought he knew what he was doing with a pop act? One True Voice happened. I'm fairly certain that whoever's in charge of selecting UK Eurovision acts intentionally selects songs that haven't a hope in hell of winning. It's bordering on ridiculous. I won't hold my breath that this girl will have a hope in hell of making the top half unless the song is on trend and catchy.

Yeah, they need to promote her like hell across Europe is she's going to win it for us this year. They did it with Jade Ewen and look how high she finished. This girl is 10x better than Jade, so with the right promotion and song, she could win it.
I'm scared the song will be too simple/slow to win the eurovision contest which is generally pop and cheesy songs.

Winning Eurovision comes down to the following factors:
How good is the song? How well known is the song? How good is the performer? How good is the performance? If it's a contemporary song that fits in with current trends, promoted around Europe prior to the event, is performed by someone who can sing well and can put on a spectacle, it'll do well. There is no default "Europe loves this kind of song", that's nonsense spouted by people who don't understand why the UK's always near the bottom. Europe loved Lordi, it loved Verka Serduchka, it loved Alexander Rybak, it loved Dima Bilan, it loved Lena... none of those performances are remotely similar, what they have in common is that they stood out from all the others. |

tbh, I love it, I love her.
It was just streamed on Eurovision.tv so that will raise awareness for other countries viewing, I also think that parading it all around Europe doesn't work, it hasn't for the past couple of years with other countries, I am sure Cascada went all out and flopped last year. Sing it well in rehearsals gurl, get the jury votes on side, I think some countries will take to her. |

Terry Wogan liked to think it was a joke and that it should never be taken seriously and that it's all political bull. So no it's not all 'cheesy'.. countries make a serious effort in it all and it's nice that the Beeb have made an effort, but complaining is so the UK so it's obviously getting hate all over social media.

Stellar all-star line up
|
I really wasn't feeling it until the chorus, but then I got the vibe it was going for.
This is definitely our best shot in the last 10 years, may be the only one the BBC give a toss about for the next decade, also.

Oh, nice voice, hopefully they have a great song lined up for her.
![]() Okay listened to the song. I think it will get us in the top 10 at best, but not a winning song unfortunately.

Thank you Pete </3.
okay after the 7th listen it's my favourite UK Eurovision entry of my time (although it only had Scooch to beat tbh, never saw the appeal with Jade, although all credit to her) |

Too glam to give a damn

I think they've gone in the right direction with the type of artist and song.
I'm not 100 % convinced that it will do well though.

Remembering Kerry

I really cannot see the UK doing too well again this year, no matter who we put in.
Good Luck to her though but she will need mountains of it too I fear. |

The juries are going to love her, and I've seen a great reaction so far, it's ironically the UK that hate her being our representative, but I don't think those people 'get' Eurovision, I've seen Italian and Greek people digging her, Ireland will give us points, Ukraine will love this. I genuinely see top 10, she'll probably get top 5 if the next 15 songs aren't all superb and she gets a decent performance slot.
