Yeah I should have updated the op..I know that's what the app thing was but I really doubt they will allow the public to tell Chris who to nominate if it's a normal eviction..

Well if they have any sense for the sake of their show they will pull off all the stops to make her stay this week, it's far too early for her to leave

I won't count on it though but it does need to happen. As overdone as the secret rooms are, her going in one for a night, seeing everything said about her and then returning as the new Power Housemate would be pretty ****ing hilarious

So you are saying it's alright if the producers show favouritism towards a certain housemate as long as you deem that housemate entertaining?

Personally i think she is stifling personalities and the dynamic will change without her.

How can you possibly say it's for the benefit of the show if most people do not want her there?

This.

It's always 'OMG you lot cant evict *insert awful hm's name here* or the show will die'...said person is evicted and the show caries on fine because there is always big personalities in there waiting to appear when others leave.

100%. And I'm quite happy to sit here and accept that makes me a hypocrite because it's a TV show and certain things need to be done for its benefit whether people believe that's the case or not.

Similarly had the pass to the final been given to a bore as I had worried beforehand, then I would probably have been campaigning and hoping for it to be revoked (even if I do think doing so would be pretty cowardly on the producers behalf regardless), now that it's gone to a good housemate I definitely don't want that to happen.

Because viewers should never be listened to. They vote on impulse, with their hearts rather than their heads and with no logic, and actually vote to evict fosters and encourages these attitudes because it's a vote-who-you-hate-out unpopularity contest and that is no good for the show whatsoever. People love to hate, and detestable characters actually keep viewers interested and people talking about the show. If they weren't around and everyone was getting along, there is an almost certain chance very few people would be interested in watching and people (casual viewers I'm mainly talking about here) would be complaining it's boring.

I actually think if the majority of viewers don't want something to happen, then it should happen.

so you're saying we should be forced to watch a bully, tear people up, reduce them to wrecks and force house mates to be scared?

Jack seriously? do you ever read back what you post and take it in? you are saying that viewers of a show that from day one of it airing has been centred around viewers voting to get rid of housemates they don't think deserve to be there and also vote for who they think deserves to win the show and money should never be listened to?

People actually watch big brother because they get to have a say about all this stuff, they don't want to see nasty spiteful people kept in or crowned the winner and they certainly don't find nasty people entertaining, I can honestly say I am glad that the majority of the public disagrees with your views about the show.

Pauline is NOT entertaining, she stifles the other housemates and actually stops them from being entertaining.

Also very few people are watching and this first week alone has been overflowing with drama, bitching backstabbing and nastiness, that puts paid to nasty = more viewers theory IMO.

I agree with all of this, and it is usually why BBUS esque shows are better.

There is a reason that viewing figures, press attention, social media discussion and real life mentions of Big Brother increase when there is controversy, significant events and/or drama which involves hatable housemates. It's not a coincidence, there's a direct correlation to be made. Fight Night, the Race Row (and no before someone inevitably uses this to accuse me of supporting that or indeed that it was good to watch I don't mean that, but it was a controversy so I'm using it to make a point), the Daley/Hazel incident last year.

Controversy and big events draw people to the show and it increases discussion. Nobody's talking about what Kimberly's having for dinner, that doesn't spark discussion. Controversy and drama does. Why are soaps so popular? It's the exact same as Big Brother, you take the main characters and villains out of the soaps and they're boring and no one would watch, focal characters work in the exact same way in a reality TV show.

Nobody's going to sit there and acknowledge they like nasty housemates nor do they have to, but the bottom line of it is is that without them shows like this would struggle and subconsciously people love to hate. There were several vile racist bullies on BBUS last year but it certainly kept people gripped hoping they were evicted and tuning in to get angry at them.

On the subject of low viewing figures so far...the World Cup.

Anyway I'm going to end up repeating myself and I have work to be doing, we disagree and that's fine, the opinions that people like myself, Salman and Reece have are always going to be in the minority (although it used to be a more popular view, I've noticed it decline on here a lot in recent years which is a shame) but the simple fact of the matter is if some people on here were left in charge of the eviction orders and what type of events and housemates are necessary this show would have been axed way before Big Brother 11. Thankfully there are examples of the producers realising this and so they fix things to ensure the bigger characters stay, that if anything speaks volumes about this whole argument to be honest.

It's similar to how you said "BB can change the rules at any time" earlier to someone who said it would be unfair if Helen's pass got revoked.

Would it be unfair if Pauline was saved by a fake eviction this week? Hell yeah. But BB can change the rules at any time, and of course they'll do what they think will get them more talking-points and headlines (and inevitably more profit from eviction votes since Pauline will be even more hated next week than she is now, and more people will vote to evict her).
