Whether they are Catholic, Protestant, Methodist, Mormon or Jehovah's Witnesses and indeed other demoninations. |

I would not include mormans whether they want to shelter under that umbrella or not. That is one made up religion too far.

Catholicism is a denomination, and is, therefore, a subset of Christianity. All Catholics are Christians, but not all Christians are Catholics. A Christian refers to a follower of Jesus Christ who may be a Catholic, Protestant, Gnostic, Mormon, Evangelical, Anglican or Orthodox, or follower of another branch of the religion.
A Catholic refers to a Christian who follows the Catholic religion as transmitted through the succession of Popes of Rome and the Vatican Empire across history. The Pope is the leader of the Catholic church. The Catholic Church is the largest of the Christian Churches - about 60% of Christians are Catholic. |

Most historians would not accept that jesus actually said much of the stuff he is supposed to have said.
I would not trust word of mouth after one day in the middle east never mind after a 100 or so years |

Quote:
But that someone we know as Jesus existed is not in much historical doubt. Whether he was the son of god, divine etc is a different issue altogether. |

When I was a kid, Catholic priests who could get through a mass in 35—40 mins were very popular!

Easter services can be very long.
Anglican services I have been to are rarely over in less than one hour. |

If you look at the character of Horus in pre-Christian Egyptian civilisation, the similarities to Jesus are striking.
