I've never really understood this rule. Well I do, but it doesn't make sense. A post count is a measure of the number of posts you have made on a forum, if you're going to display a post count then discounting certain sections of the forum means the figure isn't accurate...so it's not a post count, is it? Might as well just get rid of it

I don't think it would increase spamming as seems to be claimed (and is the reason behind it) but if it did then just ban those people? Spamming is already against the rules after all

I mean either have a post count properly or don't have one at all

Posts aren't that important really, and it'll be scary seeing people with over 100k

They aren't and I'm not really bothered but it's just the fact the count is inaccurate that I find frustrating because it's just silly. It's like having a pedometer and saying 'well I'm going to discount the steps I made up and down the stairs today cause they don't really matter'...well they're steps and it's counting how many steps you make in a day so yes they do. A post count is counting the number of times you have made a post on a forum, just because certain sections are excluded it doesn't mean they're not posts

No, that's not what I mean, from the date the posts do count, not all the previous c&g posts added

Surely this is the only forum where having more posts is like a badge of honour?
I'm embarrassed enough that I have 4,000. If chat and games counted it could have been much worse

..not really, no..I'm on two other forums and I have seen on both, post counts being used to 'insult' in some way...and that is from the point of...ughhhh, get a life, look at your post count...and the other way of...who are you and your tiny post count..?...similar such things...member post counts are usually in their avatar and visible but it would be also fine if they weren't displayed, I think...but I don't think that would be the issue, though because people would still snipe and insult if they were inclined to do so/because it's the members themselves...if that is the objection or dislike of it being visible...

..in all seriousness, I think on any forum a post count is something you hold for your interactions and time on that forum and something to be proud of because it means that you have wanted to be there/enjoyed your time there..?..whether it's displayed on the forum or just in your profile that really doesn't matter but if it's being used as an insult, then that's really just that person being an idiot and being silly/and they probably would be anyway... because it's actually saying that the forum is a great one to be on..and with newer members who haven't posted as much maybe...?...well, what forums need to be able to thrive and survive are new members so if someone is using their post count as an insult/well they'll just end up with a 'dead' forum if people don't stay..so again, just silly really....

If they where to be allowed what I don't mind then it should only start from the day they have been allowed or there will be members with like 200k+ etc

I mean- We keep the forum active during off season in C&G, so shouldn't we be getting it as sort of like a thank you? Without us chatting, playing forum games etc. This forum would be dead during off season, with an odd bb rumour every month or so.

I've been here 5 years (3, if you don't count the 2 years I was banned for) and I only have 4,000 odd posts. I contribute a lot to C&G, and theres rarely a day where I don't check in on TiBB.
