Ah good you sound like you watch quite a few.

Got any recommendations?

These are a few of my faves although you've prob seen them all.

The Ward (2010)

The Hills Have Eyes (2006)

The Road (2009)

Silent Hill (2006)

The Cabin in the Woods (2012)

Evil Dead (2013)

Drag Me to Hell (2009)

Monsters (2010)

And while that last one isn't really a horror, I love the atmosphere created in the film, I feel that it's well worth watching.

Brilliant thanks Gypsy Goth.

I've only seen two of them so that's a good few extra for the bucket list. Cheers for posting.

My favorite one. I grew up on horror.

I like the genre but I don't find it scary at all any more. Completely desensitised. For example I used to find Zombies terrifying but after several years of The Walking Dead, Resident Evil, and 3 Dead Rising games (during my playthrough of the 3rd one I massacred nearly 60,000 of the little buggers) I just don't find them remotely scary any more . Except the clickers in The Last Of Us. I had to play that game in short bursts because it was giving me high blood pressure.

Likewise, I found the thing through the hatch in "the grudge" terrifying the first time but J-horror has been done to death now, and Japanese women and children in heavy goth make-up is just no longer scary!

"The Road" is a great film but not really a horror, it's straight post-apoc which is my favourite genre. There's a severe lack of decent (non zombie) post apocalypse stuff, though.

I disagree, I believe it is a real horror, regardless of the genre that is tagged to it, and just because a movie is labeled as something, it doesn't me it can't be something else (sorry for the double negative). If you look at films like The Silence of the Lambs, it has created an iconic horror character in Doctor Hannibal Lecture, yet it's listed as being a crime drama or a thriller, also Alien by Ridley Scott, it's both a scifi film and a horror.

I found The Road to have a couple of terrifying scenes, not to mention the bleakness and the feeling of menace throughout. I would mention more about the film's horror tropes, but I don't want to spoil it.

No hate them. I know some people think the exorcist is funny, but I saw it when I was about 13 or 14. We lived in a terraced house @ the time but both the neighbours had moved out. Anyway watched the exorcist @ my older and cooler friends house, got home went to bed, heard movement was convinced the devil was in the attic (just like the film) was almost hysterical until my mam told me someone had moved in next door!!!! Only other one I ever watched and again with older/cooler friends, was Carrie.

I remember watching Texas Chainsaw Massacre after a night out with the girls, it's funny how drink distorts things

I remember laughing throughout the film

I wouldn't watch it sober though

I like good horror films, especially vampires... but I have no time for gory, shock films. Seeing someone tortured or having their guts ripped out, for instance, is not my idea of entertainment.

Love horror films that aren't too scary, like Scream.
