Well tbf it's impossible for the rules to list every rule break scenario possible (especially on here) so we do use our own initiative at times and I know this has been mentioned lots but every infraction has it's own discussion thread and we do post if we agree/disagree with certain infractions then reverse infractions or bans we don't feel were justified, we do make mistakes at times, and they are normally corrected once realised.

Yes well personal insults are against the forum rules Ashley however mods rarely give infractions for things they are personally insulted by unless it's a clear rule break, in fact I've seen mods actually go into the admin section and ask someone else to deal with things if 1. they are taking part in the debate where the rule break is and 2. they don't like infracting for things personally said to them and prefer instead to delete the post (I delete things said about me without infracting unless it's extreme)

Where is this 'Infraction discussion thread' Josy? Have we got access to it?

I tend to just carry on the same, I believe most of my infractions are either me slightly over stepping the line but not in a nasty way, usually it's sarcasm or just another forum member being a bit prissy - so I refrain from reading their posts for a bit lol

I mean I don't think it's that hard not to be an arsehole to people so I don't ever have to change my posts.

However, one of my entire two infractions over my seven years being on here (7 years sweet Jesus ) was for breaking the swear filter and honestly I still do that from time to time

Are infractions the same as bans? Or are they warnings? And how do you know if you've had one, do you get a pm?

Infractions come with points that build up and lead to bans, the more points you accrue the longer the bans get, warnings don't have points and can't lead to a ban.

And yes you receive a pm from TiBB Staff telling you what post has been warned/infracted and the reason.

I don't get infractions

But knowing the forum rules, and knowing that even though I say something in jest... It could be taken the wrong way... I usually self edit.

I often find myself going to post something, and even typing it out, but then rethinking it and deleting it before I even hit send.

This. Or I usually have to explain myself in small text afterwards so the moderators know that I am joking.

I am doing this increasingly now Mokka - especially on Serious Debates.

You are Most Wise Arista. I totally agree with you, though I have - luckily - never been warned, infracted or banned but if I had, I would also 'take it like a man'.

infractions come from different mods, and they all have their own set of rules in their own heads. The rules change depending on who is modding at that particular time. There really is no concrete set of rules, you just have to put up with who is on duty at the time.

so no, infractions don't affect how i post because it really has nothing to do with what i actually post, it's just about which mod is online and what kind of mood they are in.

I do miss the old days when you got an infraction you were actually told which mod did it and you were able to challenge it publicly on the forum. Now you aren't told which mod does it, and you have no way to challenge it on the forum, and if you challenge it that mod just gives you another infraction to shut you up.

Never, since the day you joined has it worked that way Alex.

And also challenging your infractions on the main forum is against the rules because not only does it cause unnecessary unrest but your infractions are no one else's business, querying them is between you and the mods.

yes it did Josie, there used to be a public forum where you could challenge the mod decisions, and it absolutely used to say whenI got an infraction it would say which mod had given me the infraction.

That was a private forum Alex, only you and the mods could see the thread you made in there. It has never been a thing to publically challenge infractions for the points I mentioned above and for the fact that discussing your infractions on the main forum is against the rules (also for the reasons I posted above)

And the TiBB Staff thing was started before I became a mod and that's before you joined the forum.

oh, okay. but still there was at least a forum for discussion, and other mods could come to your defense. There was many times i got an infraction, and when i challenged them, they were reversed. But now there is no way to explain yourself and get infractions reversed.

And they absolutely used to post who was giving the infraction in the old days. The actual mod giving the infraction, it was in the PM when you got an infraction you could see who it was that actually issued the infraction.

It was a much more fair system. now there is no way to know who gave the infraction, and it's impossible to discuss the infraction with the other mods and get it reversed if it was unfair.

Agree with this tbh

Also I don't understand why the private queries forum was removed, just ban the few that abused it from using, why have the minority's ruin it for the majority when there's an easy solution for it
