The insurance companies basically already restrict what young drivers can do by making insurance premiums for performance cars impossible to afford. No, the age should not be raised

You'd think. There were 17/18 year olds at my school tearing about in their dad's BMWs / audis / mercs et al.

Also plenty in their own things like Civic Sports / bigger engine Golf's. Not exactly a sports car, but plenty of power behind them for a bit of casual boy racing.

My first was a Fiesta XR2.It was basically a fast noisey go kart.No power steering or ABS just an engine and seats with a cassette player.£1600 insurance!I payed it like an idiot though.Fecking loved her.

Got to love it when the insurance is 10x the cost of the car. That's their little way of saying "Yeah but we're worried that you'll hit and damage someone else's REAL car".

Actually, looking at google, these are now considered a "classic car" and actually go for a decent amount .

Yeah mine died unfortunately.There is no in between it's either stop or rev the bollocks off it.Fun to drive.Only 1.6 but the accelerator is extremely twitchy.

People under 21 should be restricted to cars of under 1000cc.
