Most sites are illegal. Some legal sites let you listen but not download. Myspace is a great way to listen to up and coming musicians, and download their tracks.

I think if people download and then sell on the music then they are costing the industry obviously. I think aslong as there are sites and file sharing software acessable people will continue to download music. The price of a cd in the shops and albums cost a silly amount in my opinion anyway so I can see why people do download stuff. Most videos can be seen on youtube aswell so alot of people listen that way.

On programs I think if you use it regularly then you should buy it yourself just because you will get good use out of it and they come with guides to help. Copyright images are a very grey area I think....everything has a copyright...celeb images copyrighted to the photographer...disney images etc but I feel if people are using them for none profit...through banners/fansites then there is no harm to it. Aslong as you are not claiming that the images are yours then its okay...using the Copyright symbol © on anything that you havent created fully yourself is wrong but not many people are aware of it.

Lmao@water. Nice one rex. Next thing they will be charging us for is "air".. although how exactly they intend to cut our supply off if we don't pay is a mystery..

"just as i believe water should be free" Water is free. Clean water delivered on demand to your house 24 hours a day is a different mater. You choose. I do believe however that water supply should be not for profit.

I think a chunk of this downloading problem would go away if the music and film industry did not charge such a high price for their products. Greed...

Downloadin a copyright is illegal and stealing. However the music and film industry steal with the blessing of the law by overcharging.
Six of one and half a dozen of the other.....

Yeah that's a good reason. Back in the year dot when I was a lorra lorra younger I would go into the music (Record) store in the days of plastic discs.. and ask for a listen using one of the listeneing boothes they supplied in those days. As you suggest decide the quality before you lose the bucks........

When HMV and the like realise that £10+ for an album is actually a con, then people may actually buy at reduced prices, after all, the real thing is better.

I don't actually download , I don't like risking my PC's health, but if people do, it doesn't bother me, as all these big companies are ripping folk off anyway, so why not rip them off in return?

My town has lost two record shops that have been open for 20 years during the last month. even the chain stores are suffering, sad times.

I download everything and anything and love every second of it. Companys make enough money anyway and given the choice of paying for something and getting it for free via the internet , the choice is clear for me. Theirs no regrets in it. Viva la free stuff ¬!!!!

For me, if musicians are OK with making their music available to listen to on their MySpaces, Bebos, websites etc. then surely it's OK for me to download it?

(Not that I do... )

Good point. I go into HMV/Virgin and find that DVD's are like £20+ - why should I pay that much when I can download it? I only download movies if I've seen them in cinema, and liked them. So I technically have payed for the movie, and I believe I have the right to download them.
