[QUOTE=Livia;9293267]Hmmm... I find myself kind of agreeing with this.
When "feminism" was in its infancy, women were definitely not in the same league as men and were discriminated against in all areas. We've come a very long way since then and I don't understand the aggression from militant feminists who seem unable to accept that in the last fifty or so years things have changed radically and their rabid outrage isn't warranted at all. Thetruth doesn’t want to be associated with maninists because they’re pretty disgusting in their views of women. I don’t want to be associated with “Feminists” because the term has been hijacked by awful, man-hating radicals that don’t represent me at all. Maybe what we need is a new word.[/QUOTE chauvanists and feminists are like Ukip - outdated and simply surplus to requirements not sure of a new word maybe use an old one like equality/ equal opportunity |

I agree with the first comment completely. And yes... we need a new word. Hopefully though we will eventually evolve into a society where it's natural to treat each other equally and with respect and then we won't need a word for it.

let's hope so. Maybe then we can focus on those most in need. namely disabled people. a group of millions whose cause has been virtually forgotten in the last few decades. disabled only shortlists?

working class men and women have always been treated as 2nd class citizens in the UK xnd across europe the 80 million dead very young men in world war 2 is testament to that . not to forget the millions dying from tb in coAl pits. feminism is a deliberately divisive word and movement designed to divide and conquer the masses. the Only war is the elite v the rest. always was always will be

Her position is a result of nepotism and she's stood by her father without criticism of his attitude towards women, she's not going to receive a warm reaction.

If feminism is the big belief that we are all equal, and entitled to the same laws and entitlements, then why is there such a fuss kicked up when the government rightly decided to make the pension age equal?

There is absolutely no need to boo her, that's bullying. Not her fault she was born into a wealthy family. Yeah people might not agree that she has a right to be there, but so what. Keep your judgemental opinion to yourself I say.

They booed her within a few words of her speaking, it was pig ignorant ...her opening sentence was he is good to his family and they booed? theyre arrogant intolerant hardline liberals who want to silence all other opinions and take away freedom of speech...meanwhile merkel demands Ł51 billion from britain before europe is willing to talk to us...erm she seems to forget shes NOT the european president

What she's getting booed for is using the fact she was born into that family to get herself into positions that she simply is not qualified or suitable for. |

Come on truth, get your arse out of the 1950's! "Women and children first" hasn't been in effect for like half a century! The drill on a sinking ship would be to prioritise those who are least likely to survive if they end up in the water; children, the elderly, the disabled, and anyone who is injured. Healthy adults come last, male and female. Stop winding yourself up about equality issues that don't even exist any more! You keep getting your knickers in a twist over the number of young lads killed in WW2 as well... When we don't even HAVE conscription any more and (realistically) never will again, let alone male-only conscription. |

You're probably not aware but one of the main reasons the Titanic went down in history is not because of her size or because it was her maiden voyage but because it saved women and children first. That phrase had been romantically used for about a hundred years prior the sinking of the Titanic, though its never been maritime law. The truth is, in every single passenger ship that sank before the Titanic, survivors always reported that it was "every man for himself" and therefore, very few women and children survived.
