Well I don't think anyone was suggesting "Shilpa Poppadom" was offensive to poppadoms, more likely to Shilpa, an Indian woman the target of racist jokes.

Oh ffs this same thing happened in 2001 with Narinder when no one could pronounce her name. She ranted in the diary room but never pulled out the racist card. I can't pronounce his name and I think Narinder is a bb legend! does that make me racist? Well that's a lie. He could pronounce his name perfectly. He purposely chose to mispronounce in an attempt to be funny. He admitted that himself.

Not racist in itself as he did the same with a couple of names but stuff like this shows extreme ignorance in cases, such as when Jackie Budden insisted on not being able to speak properly and call Shilpa "Shumpa". Not a hard name, but because it's a "foreign" sounding name they think it's not worth bothering saying properly and just say stupid words instead.

I think Danan was just trying to make an innocent joke in this case, but from Karthik's perspective you can see how that would be tiring.

Anybody that can't pronounce "Karthik" is a moron that deserves to be called out. It's an easy name to pronounce.
