I'm 100% certain it's because of the flash vote. The typical young viewer who would want Paul and/or Brandi saved for drama will be out on a Friday night and miss the whole thing, while their aunt is sat at home voting for Derek.

Paul is 40 he and Brandi isn't far off that age so was far more likely to be saved by these oldies you refer to personally I don't think anyone bothered voting for Paul as they thought he wasn't going anywhere against Derek

Derek was never a complete and utter twunt like paul was almost constantly, so it makes perfect sense to me that Derek was saved over Paul. Not all viewers value fights and fake confrontation. Sandi the last couple of episodes has just been arguing for some completely unknown reason. It's not natural or normal and many people just don't want to see that type of crap. I'm hoping for a Helen, Shaun, Derek top 3.
