2 people have actually voted yes to this question, bizarre.
Women do not need special treatment. It's more insulting to think they do. |

It depends how it is said, like a lot of things really, I am a woman so that doesn't offend me,but if someone said 'Come here woman' I might feel different, but then again that could be said in a sensual way

Generally don't mind being called a woman (obviously) unless it's preceded by an order, because at that point I'm not being asked, but told to do something based solely on my gender, which is offensive.

Like with just about any word... it depends on the tone and context of how it is used...
There are a few words that are tainted with a negative vibe... and woman is not one of them in my book. I've had word used in a joking manner towards me, and I don't find that particularly offensive. I think if I it had had the opposite reaction for me and I had pushed... they would've felt really bad, as I think many of my male companions use it during banter as a term of acceptance... kind of like, glad to have a woman here that can take some hits as well as give it back.

Hmm it depends on the context really if someone referring to me said 'that woman' then that wouldn't bother me at all but for someone to address me as 'woman' then that's pretty insulting IMO

Silly Mooo - (Alf Garnett)
Err' (her) Indoors - (Arthur Daley) The Enemy - (Del boy used that one a few times) Now we're questioning whether just the word "woman" is offensive. Is this what we believe progression to be? |

Bint or badger is a more affectionate term..."woman" to me always sounds like the woman is being scorned.....
I would say "her over there" if i was talking to someone about the female in the vicinity. Last edited by Beso; 01-06-2018 at 09:31 PM. |

All these terms though is just blokes in the pub blethering with thier mates about thier wives...they all go home and tell the wife how relieved they are to be home.

Ha... Thanks for providing an example though. My partner would never address me like that.
