I don't think that's what poppsy meant .
Plus Kay clearly has a partner or someone . Aslo when people have other responsibilities aka a wife/ husband & children it makes them more aware and they'd be thinking more about their family and how they're being perceived.

The fact that Kay is 30 something is the perfect reason for her to not want confrontation in her life, not wanting confrontation is surely a sign of maturity, and someone who may have endured plenty in the 15 years of adulthood may have become tired of it.
