I doubt pop star endorsements make much difference to voting.

I remember Ariana Grande asking fans on social media to vote for her brother in the Celebrity Big Brother final, and he promptly came sixth out of six with about 3% of the vote.

By comparison, Vote.org added only 56,669 new voters during the whole of August.

I'm sceptical it translates into many more actual votes. Do people think that the Republicans and Trump are going to get more votes because of Kanye West?

There was some comment after the 2016 election that celebrity endorsements actually damaged Hillary's chances, because the celebrity backing just ended up highlighting the cultural divide.

..yeah I think that’s the influence celebrities can have...to possibly reduce voting apathy in realising their vote does make a difference....enough otherwise non votes will make a difference...
