I have an Israeli account for both Netflix and Spotify and they worked for me (as they should) internationally during my trips over the last couple of years - in the US, across several countries in Europe and in Asia.

It is fairly easy tbh, just set the VPN to a UK server and it'll access a UK Netflix account from anywhere.

You need a paid VPN for Netflix to work well though, free ones are too slow. I don't know of any free ones that work on phones / tablets either (for apps, rather than browser)

Well yes, but A) if you get a good multiple year deal it works out like Ł2.50 a month and B) in my personal opinion, its just very ****ing sensible to use a VPN for almost all Internet activity these days . Eyes everywhere .

Storing stuff from Netflix to watch offline is a bit of a pain in the arse tbh, defeats the point of streaming really. Might as well just torrent a few movies or seasons of a show and watch them on any old media player.

Yeah but if it hangs or decides to reboot or your cat unplugs something and you're away for a week, you're screwed .

I run a PLEX server from my PC, damn thing cut off half way through a film when I was at the in-laws

It can't be as bad as running a dial up service using your modem and broadband. I used to have to do that for my Dreamcast to play PSOv2 because the ethernet adapter was both expensive and hard to find.
